The cost will always out weigh the risk with Ekblad.
Hes already lost a bit due to injuries which can be a slippery slope.
Florida also wouldn't be in a hurry to dump him and then have him hit his stride.

You must really be mancrushing on Nylander then. Because Ekblad+what may be a lottery 1st would be about as good of a return as i could imagine.

Between the concussions and his contract, he can leave his talents in South Beach.
Ekblad is not worth that, no thanks. Ekblad is overpaid as well. Somehow he got 2.5 million per (In FLORIDA) than Rielly did and he signed after him.

I agree. JayBo got a ton of hype in Florida and then got exposed badly the moment he went to a big hockey market and people saw him nightly.

I'd be surprised if someone who watches Ekblad regularly could call him a 7.5 mil defenseman and keep a straight face.
Rielly gets 5 million per and Ekblad signed AFTER.
Remember when everyone on HF says Florida teams get discounts due to taxes...

How have they moved past the rebuild stage exactly? They're about to miss the playoffs again. They bend the leafs over in terms of value as well
Ekbald is a top 2 defenceman rhd his concussion issued are a concern . overpayment ? Leafs should just wait how cap is next after signing matthews and marner and then sign or trade for one in offseason

You’re not As far off as some leafs fans implying, are just overhyping their assets. Nylander and the pick for Ekblad is fair imo. Take out Liljegren.

Ekblad isn't as bad as some are making it seem.
Yes, he is overpaid by a million but still on pace for another 15 goals.
He's had to transition from pure offensive D to more of a 2 way guy and it has been bumpy but has improved.
Yandle is our OFD.
Ekblad's first three years he average around 64% OZ starts. Last year was 41% and this year around 46%.
For all the concussion talk, he's only missed 15 games in 4.5 years.
He's 22 and still has room to improve, skating and core strength should be the two main things to focus on.
Without him, our RHD is bottom pairing guys. The value is close but don't see Tallon needing another winger as good as he may be.
