Contract projections had him at 4 years x 4.5 milliom
Especially for a 28 year old who is what he is. There is a chance it ends up as a good deal, but not very likelyHow on earth is a 6x6 contract for a guy barely squeaking over 50 points once over his career, and a career average around 40, good value or a win for the team?
Because the Isles are probably screwed if he goes somewhere else and he could have demanded 7 mil knowing the position we're in. Not a lot of options out there.
Yeah, I understand that. It just makes it more palatable for the Isles to sign him for this more than it means that the contract itself is fine.who are the Isles replacing Brock with for a better deal if they let him walk?
Yeah this one's bad. Real bad.
Apart from last year where he put up 50, giving a 28 year old that averages 40 points a year a 6x6 is not wise.

Seems pretty steep for a guy who has averaged 21 goals / 40 points on his career and will be 28 by puck drop this year.
I was told Lou bent players over and got them to sign sweetheart deals because of his experience.
Seems very high given his production. Guess the Isles had no leverage, though.
Bodes very well for Anders Lee. He could easily ask for 7-8M per on a similar term deal now.
And wasn’t he an RFA?Teravainen just signed for $5.4. Maybe time for Lou to retire.
hahahahahahaPaying him 7 million on a long term deal would have been horrendous. 6 is bad enough
After Duchene, Pavelski and Hayes, (Thornton's either staying in SJ or retiring) the UFA C crop goes down a hill with Brassard, Spezza as the reamining pure Cs and Johansson/Wilson as C/LWs
