I think Annunen is bad, but you could at least say that he has some potential if he gets to work with a good goalie coach. A 32yo mediocre journeyman goalie is probably not going to be improving a whole lot. Add the 6th round pick and yeah.

He will probably be fine as a low usage backup behind Saros playing against weaker teams. Maybe the Preds can squeeze something more out of him in the future but looking at it from your teams viewpoint - I’d say this is more about freeing up a bit of cap this year and next than it is about Annunen being any kind of prize.

He will be working with one of the best goalie coaching groups. Korn/Vanderklok/Rinne is pretty freaking solid. Between him and Chrona one of them will pan out to be a reliable backup to Saros

I think it was more that Askarov wanted a path to be starter, and with Saros' extension, it wasn't going to be there for him.

Got rid of Wedgewood. Traded Askarov. Lost Fabbro for nothing on waivers. Signed 34 year old Stamkos to a horrific contract with a no move clause. Signed 33 year old Marchessault to a 5 year contract.

I really hope Annunen turns out for Nashville, he seemed like a really good teammate and helped bring some life to the Avs before Bednar's insistence that Georgie could do no wrong and that everything that has been bad ever is due to Annunen.

.878 sv% in 5 games in Nashville. Wedgie didnt look NHL caliber in Nashville. It seems like Annunen didnt look NHL caliber in COL as well. Both have done great in their new homes. Seems to work out well for both teams so far.

wedgewood is an above average backup, annunen likely becomes the same. although the nashville goalie factory may be able to make more out of him.
