Hey remember how Trotz traded Askarov because he signed Wedgewood with term to backup Saros and now has traded Wedgewood away two months into the season.
Great asset management. I can’t with this guy, man. Annunen at least has some value and is younger I guess.
The only thing I’ll say is Askarov wanted to be a starter and with goalies their value, you never know what’s gonna happen. They were obviously going to keep Saros as the franchise goaltender. Not saying it was right or wrong, but I understand the logic behind it at the time.Hey remember how Trotz traded Askarov because he signed Wedgewood with term to backup Saros and now has traded Wedgewood away two months into the season.

Well the thing he does really really well is be there. He obviously has warts but can Predator fans at least fill some of us in on what he does well?
Pretty sure the trade had a lot more to do with Saros' contract than Wedgewood's but don't let me interrupt.
Nothing, he did absolutely nothing well as a goalie. I honestly don't know what the Av's management saw that would convince them to give up a pick to get him.He obviously has warts but can Predator fans at least fill some of us in on what he does well?
It can be both. At least Askarov getting a season to be backup gives him a chance to usurp Saros.
This is incorrect. Trotz ha stated that when he offered Wedgewood the contract he was informed that the plan was for Askarov to be the back up and that unless Askarov had a bad camp he would likely be in Milwaukee.Hey remember how Trotz traded Askarov because he signed Wedgewood with term to backup Saros and now has traded Wedgewood away two months into the season.

I think Trotz view was that it was a problem to be dealt with on down the road but Askarov had proven nothing at the NHL level that would really push Saros. He expected Askarov to play at least another couple of years getting back up time and working on his game. Then they would figure out what to do.Considering they had already given Saros an 8-year extension, not sure they were interested in giving him that chance. And I'd also guess they wouldn't have traded Askarov if his camp hadn't requested it, but I'm not 100% plugged into the situation.
he's probably still going to do that just in a different jersey. The timing of the trade is what is wild. Wedgewood was slated to start tonight being on the back end of a back to back.
