Lemme tell ya, I have had a renewed hockey watching experience this year.

The baby's bathtime is at 6:30, and then a big bottle, and then bed. Depending on a number of factors (how much fun we have before/during bathtime, how hungry she is, how fussy she is going down), I'm out of her room by anywhere from 7:10 to like 7:40.

By the time I get settled I've usually got at least one period worth of commercials I get to fast forward through. If she's fussier, sometimes I get to skip a whole intermission. The downside is I can't check the GDTs (I've forgotten once or twice, disastrous consequences) but that's really it.

I had never understood people who habitually record the game to watch later, why wouldn't you just watch live? But now I do, I get it. I will still watch live if nothing is in the way of game time, but will no longer just join the game in progress if I'm late. Fast forwarding is the way to go!

The added bonus is not looking like such an asshole watching live and commenting here when things are going poorly.

This is true. I used to have one of these guys hanging on my wall before it was destroyed in a fire.

With the right planning you can get through a Canes game AND an episode of Blacklist, or 23 Schitts Creek, or similar in just a little bit longer than the game itself takes. It's awesome. It does mean you skip all the intermission festivities, but that's okay.
