I am just so jealous you all get this kind of weather all the time. So nice down here. Really wish I'd have time to go to the Kings game on Saturday but that seems unlikely.

Yeah, all these comic book movies do nothing for me. The original X-Men was good and Iron Man was okay. I remember being completely underwhelmed by the first Captain America. Haven't bothered with anything since that.

i was never into them as a kid. it was he-man and then a little bit of batman but that was it. ninja turtles were pretty cool though.

Agreed. My main issue with them, especially the Marvel ones, are how incredibly formulaic they are. They are all pretty much the same movie over and over again with cartoony gibberish action scenes that are always interrupted so somebody can make a snarky joke. They also are incredibly unsatisfying from a story standpoint because they never end. Each movie just leads into the next one so nothing is ever fully realized. I only enjoyed the first Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. I had trouble sitting through everything else and decided to tap out after struggling through Thor 2, lol. Oh I liked X-Men 2 as well when I was in high school.

Damn. You all are analyzing them like they are the Zapruder films. They are movies based on comic books. It's not Shakespeare or Vonnegut. They are there for casual enjoyment. Lighten up Francis(Es).

;)

I woke up a 4:30 drove home from Phoenix. Napped. Went drinking. Didn't drive. I am on #7.

#partyatmittens. Bring chutes and ladders and a slip and slide.

Meh... I mean if the random fan who is paying for the experience can put that much thought into it...
Why the **** can't we expect the same or more from the guy literally making multiple millions of dollars from it?

I think I have touched on it a little bit... Where most shows are some combo of entertainment vs legitimately good.

Maybe action flicks being an example of entertainment, and it's a beautiful life being legitimately good.

I think Arrested Development is one of the bigger examples of a comedy that is further towards legit good then entertaining. Never found it overly hilarious, but damn its a smart show.

Also, respect for Beastie Boys... For all their ridiculousness (and they have plenty, in a good way), they also all play instruments and are damn good musicians. 5 burroughs was overly political and underly good... But they came hard with The Mix Up after that. Their instrumental releases have always been ****ing solid.

Creed was such an enjoyable film. I went in with pretty high expectations based on Fruitvale Station and Coogler easily surpassed them. Ludwig Göransson's score was perhaps the biggest surprise for me. He did an incredible job of capturing Conti's sound and then expanding it into his own themes.

Nice

I am hold out for Star Wars though.

I did take advantage of pre Black Friday specials and bought a new oven and TV

I might not have to take a sick day to miss opening day after all...and I haven't missed one since a Star Wars sneak peek at a Sci-Fi convention in November 1976... I found out that the store's employees will be tag teaming at my spot that day... No Star Wars Flu...at least for me...

I'll write out an etiquette sheet for them...and it might include a little land mine like this

If someone wearing a Cowboys/Oilers/Sabres jersey comes to the kettle...don't lift it up and say "Here... You guys need it more than we do..."...

This season of TWD has been pretty awful ever since they pulled that stunt with Glenn. It had such a promising start too.

Agree.

I've gone back and forth on watching the show. Hell, I've gone back and forth on it just being dumb entertainment vs a legit story..

Either way, tuned back in for season 5 on netflix and that **** was nuts.
This season has been a bit weak. Lazy convenient storytelling, and really... Not that much action. The Wolves attack was pretty sick, and I guess going back to why Morgan is such a ***** was relevant... But it reminds me of lost, where each episode ends in some massive cliffhanger with very little pay off in the next.

They have wasted so much time on complete nonsense this season. Lots of lazy writing and time wasted on plot development that could have been covered in ten minutes instead of 2-3 episodes. The first few episodes of this season really had great momentum and then the Glenn stunt happened and it came to a grinding halt. Hopefully the back end gets things moving again.

TWD has never had great writing, there is a reason why they have gone through so many different show runners. However at times it's been really fun to watch and the atmosphere is fantastic. I love how Rick's crew would move from place to place and encounter different groups of people who may or may not have different survival philosophies. It's rare that a show has the ability to change it's environment as much as TWD does and this show is at it's best when it keeps things moving forward. Please save this season, Negan!

Oh and i agree with you on Lost. What was actually in the box was never as good as the anticipation behind it. It's funny how the writers have since come out and said that they pretty much made up that show as they went on and had no idea where they wanted to go with it. TWD has a ton of comics to draw their story from, so they have no excuse to waste so much time. It's not like they are Game of Thrones and are caught up to the source material and waiting for George R. R. Martin to finish the story.

I'm sure some of you have read Quick's article on The Players Tribune that he wrote in late July, but if not, I think you should give it a read - it's pretty good, and makes you appreciate him and others of his position just a little more.

I'm a huge Quick fan (as well as Kings fan in general, believe it or not) so it was cool to get his perspective on things - sure beats cliche interviews.

Lost was the most frustrating show in my opinion because they originally stated they had the show's outline plotted from beginning to end. When you watched Lost you quickly realized they did not have it planned out what so ever. It was a quagmire of stupidity which I stuck with to see a payoff which never came to fruition.

TWD is a much better show even with the sometimes uneven storytelling.

True

I do think this half season could have been handled a little better though.
