Not to defend Bruno, but the new guy is 23 and has had maybe 1 practice with team. Sitting and watching a game or 2 until he can learn the system a bit ain't exactly a bad idea.
The "system"? Please explain.
It's called plugging holes. Who knows what this team will look like in a month let alone a year from now. Let's not get our panties in a bunch just because some guy has played a few games and another guy who has done Jack squat with Montreal hasn't gotten to play a day or two after being traded.
Panties in a bunch? Please be less extra.
It's not whether Blankenburg is in over "new guy", it's still about the overall utilization of the available
You can be the new GM after Trotz gets fired.
A lot of people thought that Martin St Louis couldn't play in the NHL because he was too small, at 5'8" and 176 pounds. He only lasted 15 seasons, 1134 games and 1033 points. He also had another 90 points in 107 playoff games. If Blankenburg or whoever, can do 25% of ANY of those numbers, it is a win for Nashville. St Louis also won one Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2004.
So very glad MSL can be used as a comparison 20 years later for a diminutive Dman's viability in the modern NHL. At 26 Blankenburg is just now learning to survive in the NHL on a horrible team with horrible management, great for him.
Again, the point remains the same. Either find a way to play right handed defensemen on the right side or continue to screw up the depth of the team. Schenn is not the present or the future. Blankenburg is, what, passable, at present but not the future. And Josi on the right side is a mistake presently and will only be worse in the future. Try something different for the future is all I'm saying.
I hate the idea of tanking or losing on purpose. This season is lost as far as playoffs goes, play someone that might have a future and star figuring it out.
