Who said they were building around him? Right now he's just the guy that is playing well and they are using. In 3 months he may not even be here.
Who knows with Trotzspeak, but he did mutter something about bringing in different younger guys to see what they could do and if they could help moving forward.

On the other hand, absolutely. Anyone not a NMC could be the hero one day and waived the next. We've been going through those younger guys like a daycare goes through sanitizer wipes during cold and flu season.

Don’t forget about the new addition to the press box.
Exactly, that's how this all started. Brunette is so worried about playing Josi on the right and Lauzon on the top line that there was no room for the new guy on the right side, even with Fabbro and Carrier gone from the opening night roster.

Blankenburg is just another guy blocking a player that might have an actual future with the team. Regardless of his goal last night and how he's playing right this minute he has as much of a chance of sticking in the NHL as Grimaldi had.

Not to defend Bruno, but the new guy is 23 and has had maybe 1 practice with team. Sitting and watching a game or 2 until he can learn the system a bit ain't exactly a bad idea.

It's called plugging holes. Who knows what this team will look like in a month let alone a year from now. Let's not get our panties in a bunch just because some guy has played a few games and another guy who has done Jack squat with Montreal hasn't gotten to play a day or two after being traded.

You can be the new GM after Trotz gets fired.

A lot of people thought that Martin St Louis couldn't play in the NHL because he was too small, at 5'8" and 176 pounds. He only lasted 15 seasons, 1134 games and 1033 points. He also had another 90 points in 107 playoff games. If Blankenburg or whoever, can do 25% of ANY of those numbers, it is a win for Nashville. St Louis also won one Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2004.

The "system"? Please explain.

Panties in a bunch? Please be less extra.

It's not whether Blankenburg is in over "new guy", it's still about the overall utilization of the available

So very glad MSL can be used as a comparison 20 years later for a diminutive Dman's viability in the modern NHL. At 26 Blankenburg is just now learning to survive in the NHL on a horrible team with horrible management, great for him.

Again, the point remains the same. Either find a way to play right handed defensemen on the right side or continue to screw up the depth of the team. Schenn is not the present or the future. Blankenburg is, what, passable, at present but not the future. And Josi on the right side is a mistake presently and will only be worse in the future. Try something different for the future is all I'm saying.

I hate the idea of tanking or losing on purpose. This season is lost as far as playoffs goes, play someone that might have a future and star figuring it out.

Fun fact. Blankenburg and Girard were born the same day, May 12, 1998. Fabbro, born 5 weeks later, was the Preds 1st round pick in 2016, Girard was a Preds 2nd round pick that year, Blankenburg went undrafted.

Oddly, this current Preds braintrust has settled on the smallest and least experienced of the three to build their future RHD around.
Hmm. That adds to the stack of people I know with that birthday. Offhand I can count 5 besides Blankenburg and Girard, one being my older granddaughter. Why is mid August such a successful sexy time???
