Two possible translations for Paul Maurice’s comments about the Roslovic line:

1) Players are only allowed to be creative if they are on one of the top two lines

2) Players are only allowed to be creative once they are 26 yrs old or older.

3) Players need to learn when the best play is to get traffic to the net and when the best play is to be creative.

So glad they won. Would hate to get my entertainment lurking at HFLeafs tonight.

I am still going to lurke there may even create a thread. The leafs will make the playoffs despite coasting whereas the Jets with less talent and fighting tooth and nail will not because the west is that much more competitive

Don't create a thread there. You'll get warned and/or banned.

Good game all around, for the most part.

Naturally. I missed this one as I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. Not the first time for the game were Jets actually won.

Jinx worked, even I don't exactly believe such things. Haukat haukkas paskaa!

Sleep was exceptionally good in quality. :)

Oh believe me you can do both. My hobbies include bowling, pick-up hockey, and reading HFLeafs after they lose.

The speed of the forwards is keeping this team alive right now. They can really back up a defense quickly. I'd consider it a successful season to grab one of the wildcards, it's at least nice to be watching meaningful hockey.

The only way you can learn that is to try things to see what you can and can't do.

There isn't a magic switch at age 26 or so that goes off and says well now I can do these things.

So, should we call the third line for 2-15, 2015 or something else?

Jets win , it's in spite of Maurice , Jets lose , well of course we lost we have Maurice as a coach . Let's at least wait until we lose the game to ***** about Maurice , not when we win . :help:

I strongly oppose any hot take based on 1 to 3 last games. It's not on Maurice if Jets win or lose a single game. Or at least it's almost never on him. It's on Maurice that the Jets have been pretty mediocre as a team most of the last 5 or so years, apart from latter half of 17-18 on which Jets was balanced and a pretty awesome team.

I was against his extension by all means, and still am given that he has had his changes and failed to capitalize, but hot takes after 1-2 two losses were just tiresome. Maurice is neither a bad NHL coach nor a good one, but he is charming and witty, and hopefully the room likes him.

Ps. not sure about the recent line changes, but me likes Appleton with Roslovic and Harkins.

Despite his points Beaulieu had an awful game and was a liability in his own zone. Even Sbisa playing on his off hand seemed much more stable. Even Bitteto can't be a downgrade on him at this point. Get Tony B in the lineup over Beau.

This is why I can't stand hockey fans sometimes. Seriously, take the win.

Great game, boys had their legs and worked hard all night long. Refs were good too.
Aavco cup predicted that third line a few weeks ago on twitter saying they played together on the Moose. For those that don’t know him follow him on Twitter, he was one of the best posters on here before he left and posts some good stuff on there.
The home stretch is gonna be a good one!

Missed the game, but cool to see Kulikov, Beaulieu, Appleton all get 2 points
Also I didn't realise that was Beaulieu's first goal as a Jet (as he had none last year with us)
All three goals came from d-man shots too
Good that Ehlers finally got some ice time since there were no powerplays or PKs

Did the lines change from the previous game? There seem to be some indications here about that.

I could only tune in for the last 10 minutes, but this is what I saw.

Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Copp-Laine
Harkins-Roslovic-Appleton
Chibisov-Shore-Bourque

Experimentation! Woo! That's awesome. And I really actually like the combos Maurice tried.

First it was Scheifele and Wheeler trading places, then it was the above lineup. The bromance + Ehlers is much better than CSW IMO because they are not defensively as weak. Laine and Connor can work with Copp because it has a nice balance of high-octane offense with solid defense. This leaves the third line with solid offense and that line was rocking their own thing, which is awesome. Fourth line did some nice things as well, I think. Still not familiar with all the numbers.

I don't care what happens in the season (winning is preferable to losing but not sure we can go all the way [it's not impossible if the coaching staff can squeeze out every last bit of efficiency out of every single area]) but it is very interesting to see how all these pieces work when you mix them up a bit, and then you can always do something else. Awesome coaching.

I'm really liking Wheeler's game as well as of late (perhaps the PP could be different but that's not his fault). He's just quietly humming along.

E: Also, when protecting a one-goal lead in the dying minutes with the EN, I would create some custom lines with only defensively good players. I don't know if that's realistic or not though.

I wonder if Maurice got extended only if he agreed to stop coaching so much? The pack of wolves are showing signs of returning and when we play like that, we win.
Also, we are getting more traffic in front of the net as we seem to be happy with garbage goals all of a sudden. Pucks to the net and good things happen with traffic.
It seems like we’re playing to win now instead of playing Maurice’s style of playing not to make mistakes.

It's only one game, but it's a bit concerning Scheifele seems to be dragging people down instead of lifting them up. Though I think lately he's been getting perhaps a bit too much crap for his D-game, after all his offence makes up for it, but a lot of the time he just looks uninterested or not really caring. Laine and Connor played with great effort and that particular game made the comments about how Scheif has to carry two defensively weak wingers seem pretty funny. But to be honest, if these lines stick, I'm not sure Laine and Connor can keep that kind of effort going night in night-out, especially Laine who was battling a lot, hitting and getting hit. Still, Connor-Copp-Laine especially were beasting, would kinda like to see that line for another game or two, if they can keep that up, though that would come with legendary 55-26 pairing and then the fear creeps in it's gonna be 22min for 1st line and 14 for the 2nd...

This might be the most ridiculous take.... so, you’re saying that Maurice doesn’t like garbage goals and has been trying to teach the team out of throwing the puck on net?

Third line played great tonight.

Hellebuyck made some key saves.

Happy for the win!

I think Scheifele is playing with some kind of injury , hope it gets better soon . Good win that we had to win , the only thing i'll say is Copp shouldn't be on line #1 or #2 and i wouldn't mind Chevy picking up a center but that's been like that for a while now .Doesn't have to be a great player just something like a Stastny brought us .
