If they are opening borders and would allow Leafs fans to go over for games, they would just allow US teams to fly into Toronto...

Heck wrap them up in Hazmat suits to cross the border, I'm sure there is a way they can let Toronto play in Toronto for the cup finals.

A sign of things to come?

Well yeah, that is how you play a highly talented team, hit them, hit them, hit them, hit them. It slows them down, takes them out of position, if you are expecting your winger to be in a certain spot for a pass and he is 40 feet behind you on his back, that takes away options.

We know that Andersen, Perry, Chabot will all be trying to be physical, in an attempt to slow us down. It's to be expected, its to be welcomed, because if they are predictable and they do try that game, its not hard to beat them, to give a hit you also have to take yourself out of the play too. Quick chip passes, our skaters have to support the guy along the boards to give that outlet pass. If you were going to go for a big hit, take yourself out of the play and turn it into a 4 on 4 with Marner, Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Hyman, Foligno on the ice, I'd take those guys 4 on 4, with more ice any day of the week over just about any other 4 on 4 pairing in the NHL. Sure you want to go for the big OOOOOOHHH AHHHHH hits... fill yer boots.

They will probably send 2 forecheckers in at all times, forcing our D to make quicker decisions, again support your D by giving them outlet passes. Because of this approach, Sandin IMO would be a better choice in this series than Bogo. Sandin knows how to make time and space for himself. Bogo is more of a lumbering smart vet that is good against a bigger slower team. Maybe if the thought is you put Bogo in to protect Campbell, I can see that being a good choice too.

Maybe I'm being over confident but I think Montreal game plan is pretty simple to figure out, Dive, hit, force Toronto to make quick decisions and try to get the Leafs away from a 5 on 5 game where Montreal can't compete man for man.

It's a shame one of the Marlies didn't take some liberties on Gallagher and hack the crap out of his hand. I mean, your on the Marlies and you get suspended for a big ole 2 hander to Gallaghers thumb... and you help out the big team by hacking Gallagher.... you probably just got yourself a few big league games with a big league pay cheque next season.

If there is one aspect of our team that needs to do better as a whole, it’s the depth. Stars won’t have it every night but they take the toughest assignments away to allow the depth to feast on weaker oppositions.

Time for the vets and guys like Kerfoot, Mikheyev, Foligno, Hyman etc to shine.

For once, I’d love a stress free playoff series. This one shouldn’t be close and I’m hoping they make it so that it isn’t close.

Call me pessimistic but I don’t like the lineup or the pp setup.
Nash is a 4th liner and doesn’t belong on the third line.
First pp unit should be.....
Matthews Marner Tavares sandin. and simmonds net front.
Hyman cannot be on the first unit because he can’t move the puck.
Ughh!

have you been watching the playoff so far? This line up is perfect, you have to play physical, if the leafs don't play physical they are going to lose. every series so far has been very physical and high intensity. Riley Nash can win faceoffs and skate. The whole point of that third line is to take at least 90% of defensive zone face offs. We want the Tavares line against 3rd and 4th lines. Keefe while he may have his worts, actually has a good game plan as far as lines are concerned

Just saw Michael Farber's little piece on tsn sportscenter about this rivalry. He's a notorious habs fans and had to take the low-road and take snarky shots at the leafs throughout. Urgh

I live in the Ottawa Valley, will the games be blacked out like the regular season or no? I was able to view them when CBC aired it

While I totally agree with you I was referring to the imagery of the habs trying to be physical and bouncing off the leafs

That little piece irritated the shit out of me. f*** Farber.

Playoff games are never blacked out. Seems both the North series are on CBC and SN as they are on alternating nights (except for the 24th, doubld header!).

"This is the second most uneven series of the first round, behind only the Colorado-St. Louis series. A probability that high feels uncomfortable enough, but this feels much worse. It’s over 80 percent and it’s the Leafs. That math simply does not compute for a team that is cursed.

But it’s hard to spin it any other way given the information at hand."

I think even the most bullish Leaf fan who has been watching the team for at least 10 years has a tinge of that sinking feeling in their stomach.

Please. Please get it done.
