I think even the most bullish Leaf fan who has been watching the team for at least 10 years has a tinge of that sinking feeling in their stomach.

Please. Please get it done.
Yup. Theres no way I would bet on the Leafs to win, especially after what happened last year. The franchise defies logic often.

Ontario and Toronto case counts falling significantly now....we might just be able to get some fans in the seats these playoffs after all.
18 year olds getting their first shots now...It honestly should be the case within like 2-3 weeks if things happen the way they should.

This isn’t the same team as the past. They’ll take care of the Habs with ease.

Man how awesome would that be? Being allowed to stay in Toronto AND have some fans when we’re in the Cup final?

We do the work we win the series, its that simple. We get outworked, Montreal wins the series. All year, when we out worked the opposition, we won.

Montreal is not a more skilled team, not a better team systematically but any team can be a dangerous team if you give them a chance. Ottawa beat us, Vancouver beat us, Montreal beat us, Calgary beat us and they all suck.

Stomp on them early and often, don't let up, take their will to compete away.

I know it's not the same team. But no, defeating another team with ease is not a thing in hockey. You can sweep a team with some good bounces and some luck.

But a team that should be beaten with "ease" can "easily" beat an elite team in a 7 game series. We shouldn't pretend like the better team always wins in hockey, that's the magic of hockey.

"This is the second most uneven series of the first round, behind only the Colorado-St. Louis series. A probability that high feels uncomfortable enough, but this feels much worse. It’s over 80 percent and it’s the Leafs. That math simply does not compute for a team that is cursed.

But it’s hard to spin it any other way given the information at hand."
If you finish 18 points aheadof a team in a 56 game schedule. its probably the same as playing an AHL team.

I think this highlights some of the Andersen discussion too. He just hasn't had a very good year at all. I have no idea if that's been affected by injury, a slow breakdown in his game, or mentally not being there (which is critical for a goalie). Thankfully Campbell has excelled, and hopefully he can keep up his great play, for 16 more wins. In the regular season, Campbell was the best goalie, who will play in this playoff series.

Was happy to see 1600+ today but not so much after seeing that we only did 22+K tests when Ontario usually is good for 2x that many tests. Fingers crossed the numbers are lower the rest of the week while they continue with the vaccine blitz. 60+% adults in T.O and York Region have had at least their first dose. Good things coming.

I think there’s an argument to be made that we could get out worked and still win the series but it wouldn’t be an encouraging sign for “process” and growth and development and positive signs for upcoming rounds. We have to work.

Who would complain if he goes 16-3-2 in next 21 games at his usual pace?

I think getting the first goal in each game will be the key. MTL's structure is overrated. I'd argue we have better structure on most nights. The Habs fold like cheap tents when they let in the 1st goal, mainly because they can't generate shit at 5v5 most nights. Got to be patient. They will not get anything that we don't give them really. They just are not that skilled. Defend well, and this series is over in 4. Simple as that. They do not have the firepower to expose us when we commit to defense.

This historically would be a tall ask, but this group has shown throughout the year that they can play this way. I expect the intensity on both ends to be higher, but if anything that might produce a sloppier game with guys going out of position to lay a hit. We need to make sure that we don't deviate from the game plan based on that physicality that MTL brings. That's not to say don't finish your checks, but I would make sure they only lay hits on the forecheck. Let them play reckless in neutral ice, it will only play in our favor. Let their D step up and miss those Hits. We have the skill to bury them if they play that way. Get your licks in the offensive zone. Be smart.
