From a team health perspective, giving Hyman, Nash, and Foligno as much time to rest as possible is good. Those three are lined up to play big rolls in a playoff push.

The only thing I don't like about the schedule is the back to back next week.

What I don't like is that the 3rd round might be a case where we have 2 days rest and our opponent has 5.

All that said Wayner will join line very quickly in period 1 if Habs D start to cross check to injure Matty .. it is not about anyone not doing their jobs and Habs know their only shot to win is to do damage to Matty and hope Price steals a couple .. refs always throw whistle away in pro hockey in playoffs unless you stop a great chance with a penalty, cut someone or puck goes over glass .. cross checks to spine/back won't get called .. you have to play through that stuff .. it is let da players decide games for themselves mentality .. it is how game has been managed in playoffs for over a hundred years .. with Wayner on his line Matty can push back at Weber and that is all Wayner needs .. it will be over fast with 2 rights and a knockout .. more likely Weber will turtle away and try to look at scoreboard .. Edmundson then likely will go later in game .. either way it sends a message to both Habs D and da ref in game that we will not tolerate intent to injure

"wayner" don't heff 2 be on da top line 2 throw da rites

I think if you survey most of the league, they would rather play after two days rest instead of 5. I see this as an advantage for us. You don’t want to be having 5 days off doing nothing. Your team probably isn’t going to get off to a great start

Thursday is a ways away. On another note and sport, lakers vs warriors playin will be a good time kill on Wednesday. Gotta keep yourself occupied somehow before the playoffs.

I'm a bit worried about the speed level on the fourth line of ours.
Montreal has a small fourth line, but they can all skate really fast and could get a few breakaways against our slow fourth line.

Me too .. I don't think it will cause a loss but I'd like to see Kerfoot centring 4th line and Wayner up on 3rd line .. brings speed to 4th line and more power on 3rd line .. but bottom line is in game Keefer will make all da necessary adjustments .. we have too much for Habs .. only way this could go sideways is tending and it would take a massive Herculean effort from Price in a year where even ardent Habs supporters say he has sucked .. where it gets to be more like playoff hockey is against Jets although I am hoping for an Oilers upset (wow that would make my day)

will only matter on away games, Keefe can get his matchups at home, that he wants.

I actually don't mind that - historically, from my memory at least, it's been the team that keeps playing every second or third game that has the better results in the 3rd round. Teams get stale after playing high tempo hockey every second night, there's a rhythm to it and you don't let down or relax.

I'd be surprised if that was the history. I understand you don't want to be too rusty but considering what a grind the playoffs are if you get as far as the final, rest is super important too. Off for 5 days, I think the rust would be gone pretty quickly once you start to play again. But if you're bruised and beaten, there's no cure for that other than rest.

Edit - just to clarify, if we're on 2 days rest vs 5 days rest for our opponents, I believe it's possible that gives us a small edge in game one of that series but on the other hand, it slightly decreases our chances of winning the Stanley Cup.

I wish Leafs could rotate Spezza/Thorton and sub in Engvall. That fourth line is way too slow.
Spezza has been great, Simmonds and Thornton were brought here for the playoffs, no way Engvall plays over any of them - even though I agree with you.

Against CBJ last year Engvall started as a scratch before coming in for Gauthier and then the 4th line looked great. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened this year.

Please sweep us in 4... like... 10 - 0 each game. I would owe you all a high five!

Well, Doug Ford was saying that Ontario will open up very very soon so maybe there is some hope for some fans to attend games in the 2nd and beyond.
Opening up is like playing golf or going to a patio, not putting hundreds or thousands into an indoor arena. I also don't think 'soon' is in the next few weeks, they already extended the lockdown to June 2 which is the week round 2 would start. We won't go from this to sitting in an arena.
