Our vets need to be quicker to move pucks East/West on transition and OZ entries against PBO.

Even in the Barrie series guys like Jackson, McDonald and Ertel were hanging onto pucks too long and consistently ran into opposing sticks.

This PBO team clogs the middle really well and they're aggressive on the back check.

I'd like to see Petrov and McDonald separated at even strength also. Petrov can be a gamebreaker in this series, but I believe he needs a quicker linemate who he can dish off of.
So you’re saying zito is to slow for Petrov?
Petrov needs to keep shooting the puck. His points are coming on the pp. He needs to be better on the 5 on 5’s

I thought Petrov had his best game in months. Finally using his speed. Detroit needs to sign Zito!!

Thought it was a great, fast hockey game last night. Pete's will be a handful. There are a couple of guys sitting on the 4th line that deserve more regular ice time. In limited minutes they are producing not only points but chances. Just because you're older shouldn't guarantee you big minutes if you're not producing!
Totally agree here, Wakely and Romani along with their rotating line mates have had the most 5 on 5 offensive chances over the last 5/6 games. They’re getting lots of ice time and it’s certainly warranted.
We’re going to need to rely heavily on those two next season for offence so it’s great to see their chemistry.

I'm saying that McDonald is too slow for Petrov. Zito is the defensive conscience for that line and on entries, more often than not the puck ends up on McDonald's stick. I don't think that bodes well for extended zone time. He turns over the puck a lot.

I agree that Petrov has a great shot and could use it more often, but he's far more valuable as a player who can change the angle of attack. He has a good eye for areas of weak D coverage and he's by far the best passer on the Battalion.

To beat PBO, I think you need to keep them defending. They're probably not a team that you're going to consistently score on off of the rush. And unfortunately we're a team that relies heavily on the powerplay to win hockey games.

Petrov, MacDonald and Jackson all getting lots of points on pp but each one has to be more complete and play sone D. Each one is double digits in points but only +2 playing 5 on 5

Jackson and Petrov are most definitely 200’ players; Petrov in particular, is about as complete a player there is in the OHL. I think it would be fair to say they could be more aggressive on offence in the first period of games.

I don’t like how Jackson is playing at all.
Scored one today, but his game has really taken a step back from a year ago if we're simply comparing his game in the playoffs.

I think we have the pieces to get everyone going, but the production from Jackson, Bloom and Ertel specifically has left something to be desired. Get those three scoring at the rate they did in the regular season and I'm not sure there's a team that could stop us.

I’m very happy that he scored, maybe he’s going to wake up. We just need to play the game right.
Move the puck and make hockey plays.
Nobody is going to dangle anyone in this series.

Do you think the day will come when they announce Christopolous as the 1st star of the game?? Or Winslow? Or Hislop? Or Mathurin? No respect for these guys. (notice I didn't say Lukin...although he has been playing better the last 5-6 games)

There was no disrespect shown to the D imo. Arnsby was the 1st star, no question. While Christopolous stood out among D for all the right reasons, Arnsby did something spectacular a handful of times; that’s a star.

That was a general question. Not specific to yesterdays game. Arnsby for sure was the 1st star, no question. My point is that anyone not named Nelson on D deserves some recognition sometimes. They are playing great defense. Seems if you don't score, you don't get the glory.

News from the OHL in not too long ago....
North Bay Battalion goaltender Dom DiVincentiis has been named the OHL's Goaltender of the Year!
....Could chants of "MVP, MVP...." come raining down from the Memorial Gardens rafters in the not-so-distant future?!?

Congratulations Dom...you've certainly earned this!:thumbu:

Does anyone know the status of Nikita Tarasevich? I don't believe he played the last 2 periods Sun. If he can't go, who will draw in, E-Pro21?

Lineup sheet indicates continuing 11/7 formation but with important changes. Forward 12 Tarasevich is out, 2/3 of 4th line is now 15 Romani + 21 Procyszyn who is in. Maybe more importantly, on defence 8 Winslow is out, 2 Kennedy is in. For PBO, 29 Hayes is back in.

Romani is too young and had no experience. He shouldn’t be seeing a lot of ice in the third, especially with a 1 goal lead. Just my opinion.

That trade to Vancouver must've done a number to Josh Bloom's confidence. Not sure what Justin Ertel's excuse is though.

You've got a really good shot to play in the Memorial Cup this year. Why mail in these games?

Peterborough handed it to North Bay.
Well deserved. The effort and the selfishness of a few will hurt this team

Right choice for an empty net tying goal attempt though, I think.

No effort! We do the same thing on the PP over and over. I’ve always said it Jackson needs to get off that PP. Flank to D- D to Flank- Flank to D and over and over again. Can someone shoot the puck or even get the puck to the bumper???
