If you think it's Chabot, I would wonder why you think a Dman who plays in the 27th percentile in Quality of Competition can hold a candle to players all over the 90th percentile. Letang, Giordano and Rielly are beasts. Right now, anyone picked above these 3 is a joke

Let's not pretend like petry isn't comparable to Jake and what about the other examples mentioned? Nice try but your argument is piss poor.

Keep reading the thread please and you’ll see the in-depth post where I outline why Chabot won’t win the Norrris.

But your knee-jerk reactions are appreciated. Leaf fans never disappoint in that department and you are a credit to your fan base.

Look at it this way - because of his points totals he is in the running but we can all make a list of 10-20+ defensemen we would rather have that can have a similar or bigger impact with that deadly Toronto offense.

How about Quality of Competition? Kind of paints a picture of a sheltered Dman who has every opportunity to score and just isn't this year.

Imagine a world where the best leaf defenseman had 6 goals/37 points and another team had a defenseman with 13 goals/44 points.

Now, imagine if leaf fans tried arguing that their player was the leading contender for the Norris. Do you all have any idea how badly we'd be mocked? We'd be accused of being "typical leaf fans". The thread would have thousands of posts by now. The entire nhl fanbase at large would unite together in laughter. It would be mocked more than the age old Ryder, Halak, and a 2nd meme. It would NEVER be forgotten. If would bring so much traffic to hfboards that it would crash. Not temporarily, but forever. It would cause that much traffic. The entire internet would collapse internationally. Which in turn would cause economic turmoil. Riots and looting would begin. Governments would collapse, leading to migrants crises, food shortages, and war. Let's just say it... it would flat out trigger the apocalypse, and humankind would be no more.

The Norris is not an award for "highest scoring defenceman".... stop crying. Giordano is flat out better in almost every metric outside of points. He is also scoring at a point per game pace (more or less) without an unstustainable on ice shooting percentage.

People saying Giordano has nothing to do with the Leafs. It is no slight to Rielly. Giordano is just better. Put your inferiority complex back in the drawer.
 
I'll say this. The best defenceman in the NHL is not even on this Josh Wegman btw never heard of the guy list, Victor Hedman. You have to play good defence to be the best defenceman in the NHL. Something forgotten with this award.

This was mentioned last year and virtually no one agreed in the threads comparing the Hawks a decade ago to the Leafs. Leafs had no #1 D.

For the record, more major awards go to the West.

Sometimes that's just used as an excuse Winnipeg was doing that during the Laine/Matthews arguments for the Calder. The media was already setting-up if Matthews wins it's because he's a Leaf and the media is biased.

No major awards for 25 years. What bias?
