A guy people barely knew about three months ago hits a tiebreaking, ninth inning HR and Bum throws a shutout in a do or die game. If that ain't Giants playoff baseball I don't know what is!

It makes all the sense in the world but I think the Cubs have what it takes to knock them off in a short series.

Of course they do, they're the best team in baseball by a fair margin. But with our top 4 we could just as easily wreck their season in a short series.

The Cubs should win the series (they're a much better team), but I guarantee every Cubs player is thinking in the back of their mind, even year ********. Gotta be scary.

The Giants in October man.

Also, Gillaspie was in the same draft year as Posey IIRC. He's been on fire to close out the season so kudos to him showing what he's been doing in the brighter spotlight.

Supplemental pick as compensation for loss of free agent Pedro Feliz

This official twitter live stream of the Niners game is high quality and lag-free. I gotta admit, I'm impressed.

If Kap doesn't start next Sunday, I'm done. I get the fact that this team is bad, but Gabbert is a major reason why so far. He leaves so many plays on the field.

Definitely agree. I think Kaepernick can perform behind this line the way it's playing. Before last night, they weren't giving up much of anything on their QB and that was a big reason why Kaepernick sucked when he did. It certainly can't hurt to go there. But then again, if he does play and he does well and the team succeeds to be just good enough to not get a good draft pick, that'd probably be the worst thing for the franchise. Besides, I'm sure the organization would just prefer to sit him so they can cut him in the off-season.

Most of those sacks last night were on Gabbert, too. Held the ball way too long.

I don't think bringing in Kap would magically make this team much better, but they would at least be more exciting. Gabbert is about as entertaining as a snail.

Agreed. Kaepernick, if he's clicking, can be a gamebreaker and get the most out of this offense as it is constructed. They may not have a lot of depth anywhere but there's enough there to win. They're a lot closer than I thought they'd be to being on the winning side of things and I think a lot of that is how the offensive line has come together and how good Trent Brown is getting. I had hope Brown would be solid but didn't think it would happen this quickly.

Their defense needs a lot of work. Some talent in most positions but not enough and both sides of the ball are not getting the most out of what they have from a coaching perspective. Kelly is certainly better than Tomsula but I still don't think he's a good coach.

+1 on giving Kaep a chance.

Also, fix the offensive play calling. It's brutal.

There is no fixing the offensive play calling unless you can Kelly. They're just not good at calling plays. I like the idea of a quicker tempo team but his calls are mostly too conservative on both sides of the ball.

Giants terrible on the bases. Caught stealing, picked off, and Posey not running full bore with 2 outs. If Posey ran full speed and didn't slow down midway to second maybe he had a chance to go home.

There is zero doubt in my mind that Posey would have been out by a mile. That's honestly just how slow he is.

He would've been out by a mile either way. They just can't string two hits together.

Welp. If they were gonna steal a game it had to be this one. Cueto can go toe to toe with Lester but I don't see Shark going toe to toe with Hendricks. Bummer.
