Ariana Grande fans are also very annoying.

The K-Pop stans that would always bombard twitter trends that had nothing to do with the topic and post their stupid fan-cams were also annoying but it seems like they disappeared, or became Swifties

I guess Swift has some talent, but my God her music is the definition of bleh. Even her country songs were very bleh. Style is a banging song though.

Tom Brady fans

Pens & Bruins fans

Fans of trash like Lizzo, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Billie Eilish are pretty unbearable as well...I'm not sure what they did to become so popular but it's not from talent. So having fans that idolize them is really weird.

I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift, but she at least has talent and seems to be a half-decent human being...it's just the fans that become unbearable from the overhyping and obsession.
On this point.... ehhhhhhhhhh, half is generous

I mean she's not pure trash like some of the people the utes idolize, but everything I've heard from people that grew up around her makes her come across as an entitled prick. I mean don't get me wrong, I come off as a prick as well, just not an entitled one.

Her dad was a hedge fund manager and she grew up in a 6k sqft mansion outside of Philly.

I'm not saying that makes her a bad person, just that she's not the small town country girl people think her to be.

she's a publicity whore and does everything in her life to maintain her image and is a huge hypocrite with things like climate change while she flies her private jet everywhere. and also I don't consider her very talented. Hundreds of jazz musicians, mostly Berklee students, that I've seen in small Wally's Cafe in Boston are 100x more talented than her.

all that aside I love me some Andy Reid and a dynasty that is likeable, so I'm happy the Chiefs won and hope they go all the way. Also should pretty damn clear to everyone by now that Mahomes at his peak is just flat out the GOAT QB. Brady has longevity and his team's stats have been better over the course of his long career but individual stats and eye test is that Mahomes is clearly a level above. Mahomes could still even get the career counting stats and rings but even if he doesn't, the level he's shown so far in his career is better than Brady has ever shown. Period.

So, like 99% of celebrities then? Yep.
I think it's more about "female" celebrities.

I'm going to piss off some posters, but so be it. It's funny (and sad), that many can't handle female celebrities. Just look at this thread. Annoying are Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Beyonce, etc.

I'll give posters the benefit of the doubt as they were comparing to Swift, who is a female, so they are only comparing to female artists; but I've seen this way more elsewhere on social media and in real life. I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but can acknowledge what a remarkable job she's done creating her brand. Success and talent aren't directly related. There are 1000s of talented musicians that never make it. It's about marketing oneself and getting a lucky break. That goes back to the Beatles, Elvis, Madonna, etc...

Female celebrities these days are pushed a different way because of sex appeal and marketing studies have shown people respond better to female advertising. We tend to see them more. A lot more exposure to females.

Advertising in japan is the same so far. Unless its ohtani or a member of a boy band around here, its largely females.

Maybe that's part of it, but it doesn't explain it all.

I'm sorry, but if you're calling Billie Eilish trash, you are out of your mind. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go sold a bazillion records because every track on it was a straight banger. I hadn't listened to an album like that over and over since I was in college. She and Finneas made that in his f***ing bedroom.

lot of people in this thread incapable of just enjoying something because it is fun and catchy and not because it is played by a technically impressive robot musician
I know all too well that there's some bad blood when it comes to people's musical style. Some people are just so delicate that they can't enjoy a fun and catchy tune. I just shake it off and try to be a better man.

From the Department of The Elephant Under The Rug:

I'm not saying it's the case for anyone in particular expressing an opinion here, but I've seen many cases where it's not the music driving an opinion of an artist, but the politics of the artist. Both directions, for and against. I don't think it's intentional, just a subconscious byproduct of how drastically partisan we've become.

Yeah it's pretty sad. Many would be much happier if they'd separate the art from the artist.

I don't understand the appeal of Billie Eilish. And FWIW the teenage girls in my youth group who love Swift, Grande, Oliva Rodique etc don't like/understand her either. She's "too emo" for them I guess. Me, I don't know what the hell she's saying in her songs.

Marketing yourself is a key to success in any industry. I've seen it play out quite a bit in tech.

Maybe you could have said it that way in the first place then. I recognize there's plenty of very skilled artists out there that work hard on their craft, and it's not to my taste, but that doesn't mean it's trash.
I didn’t call her trash. I said she’s not all that talented which I stand by. Entertainment isn’t a skill meritocracy, she’s got a package that wound up being marketable and she surely works very hard, but it’s nothing that is all that difficult for others to replicate. Timing and luck is ultimately much more important than talent when it comes to music. I do enjoy plenty of music that also is simple and doesn’t require any special talent.
