well, if I am right, the packers are a year or two ahead of the Vikes in terms of a rebuild. It’s hard to say who Love is at this point, but he’s a hell of a lot better than anything the Vikes have going forward. Ironically, the one area that I like with MN is the O line, which was a perennial weak spot in previous years. If they can pick up a good QB in the draft then he’d be stepping into something good with a nice receiver core and a good O line.
Is Cousins not expected to sign back? I don’t think the vikings will find a starter by drafting quarterbacks in the 5th round. They haven’t selected a QB in the 1st round since 2014. That’s where the starters are.

I think most people are not expecting him back.

I fully expect us to be trading up in the draft to select a first round QB or maybe explore Kyler Murray if the Cards snag Caleb Williams.

Saying where teams are at in a rebuild is kinda subjective but the Vikings are in the middle of a rebuild to me. A lot of turn over on that defense and offense.

IIRC, Kwesi called it a "competitive rebuild" and to me hes stayed by that statement with everythings hes done.

Vikings are in a good spot going forward imo.

I think if the Vikings make the playoffs and win a game, they will work out an extension. If not, then the Vikings will probably look to move on.

Maybe. Both speculation on our parts and ultimately no one really knows what we will do other then Kwesi.

It just sets up so perfectly for the Vikings to give up a good amount of assets for one of the top QBs in this years draft because hed be in a fantastic spot to succeed with the weapons we have and who we still have to pay i.e JJ and Darrisaw maybe Hunter.

I guess i can pray a team who doesnt need Caleb Williams ends up with the 1st OA pick. lol

lmao i do agree but i do think KAM would atleast explore the possibility of it if the Cards end up with the #1 OA pick.
I hope KAM has seen like the rest of us, that he is NOT a QB to be relied upon. The name alone should be "toxic" when it comes to trying to find a real solution. I laughed when the Cards actually paid him what they did.
Between Murray and Cousins? I'd keep Kirk.

Trust me, I am to. I don't want Kirk back... but if it would mean Murray was here? I'd MUCH rather have Kirk back.
Murray is a hard no IMO. I'd rather suffer with an unknown under center than Murray.

Caleb Williams please!!!! Dude is so much fun to watch play. Just hope a team who doesn’t need him ends up with 1 OA and KAM goes all in.

I am playing devils advocate here so keep that in mind. But part of me does get kinda excited thinking about what Kyler could do with the weapons we have and getting out from a gimmicky air raid offense. Add in the fact hes been memed on/ disrespected for a while now there should be a chip on his shoulder as well.

But also everything weve seen shows he does not have a good work ethic and to me thats something you either have or dont especially after hes been paid.

It's the clear lack of work ethic that makes him like a plague to me. Watching him play, you can see he doesn't understand defenses like... AT ALL. He's only looked worse over time in that respect, not better.

I am totally fine with the Vikings taking a step back for a year or three, if they do it by getting a young QB. I know that this is a risky path, also(Ponder), but I am tired of paying QB's 35M to me OK.

Why would they have to take a step back? Everything will be in place for the young QB to flourish with the weapons that are on the team and the pretty good tackle duo in Darrisaw and Oneill. IOL still needs some work though. And everyone knows your best shot at winning a SB is with a QB on the rookie deal.

Because 99% of even top rookie QB's go through some level of struggles against professional defenses.

Yep. A lot of the legendary QBs had at least one season as backup as well. Tom Brady, Drew Brees, etc. Rodgers had 3 seasons behind Favre.

yeah, but all three of those QB's had good or better guys ahead of them at first. If Cousins doesn't come back we'll have no one. The way the league is working now, you're best shot is to get a great QB on a rookie deal, and achieve before he gets his monster paycheck.

Ehhh While true its getting easier and easier for QBs to come in and do well right off the bat.

I guess when i read "taking a step back" i thought of being one of the bottom teams in the league.

Newcastle's first Champion's league season in 20 years, and they are drawn into the "Group of Death". No Man City, Barcelona, or Bayern, but French giants PSG, Dortmund(who lost out to Bayern on the last game of the year), and Inter Milan(CL semi finalist)....not an easy game in the bunch.
That, together with a slow start, has me doubtful that they will progress past the group stage, though they can definitely steal a game or two at home.

The two must win games (IMO) are the home matches against AC Milan (not Inter btw) and Dortmund.

Draws at home against PSG and on the road against one of Dortmund/Milan can make advancing possible.

Will likely come down to goal differentials. If you can score at home and draw on the road… it’s possible.
