Sounds like they are only keeping 2 QBs on the active roster. So if Mond is around, he won't be dressing on game days.

He was drafted by the previous regime, the new one has no loyalty to him. By all accounts he has looked terrible in practice. The only bright spot was a couple of series against the Raiders. I wouldn't be surprised if he were released before the regular season.
Every season has been 2 active qbs and the 3rd in dress clothes on the sideline for every team. by 2 active does that now mean even in street clothes because I am quite positive to be active means dressed. this feels very much like the norm and Mond in only his 2nd year can easily be the 3rd guy again and learn then hopefully next year push.

you are correct they have no ties to him so he can be cut without any issue. i have no issue with it either if its needed. if not let him try to grow his game.

That was under the previous regime. We don't know what the current will do. They could go the route of many others and keep only 2 QBs, not 3. We'll have to wait and see.

Again, does every team not have 2 qbs dressed and the 3rd in street clothes on the sideline? the 3rd in street clothes doesnt count as the 53 man active roster. i could be missinterpreting it wrong though?

No, not every team does. They may have a practice squad QB, but that's not on the roster, active or inactive.

Also, wouldn't "misinterpreting it wrong" mean interpreting it right? :sarcasm:

No, Sean Mannion era over thankfully. Mond has looked better and has time to grow still.

Looks like the Mannion AND Mond eras are over......Mond could end up on the practice squad, but I wouldn't be on it.

did Mannion get cut?

Cousins may have liked him as the backup.
Of course he does, he was never a threat to be more than a clipboard holder.

I personally don't care if Cousins likes his backup or not. The question is, can the guy play if needed? With Mannion, it was a resounding NO... and that was known years ago.

It's not necessarily a threat of taking over his job, but Cousins may have liked how he approach practices and meetings.

He doesn't need to wear pads for that. Like I said... if he has no value if ever put on the field, he shouldn't be the backup QB. Cut him and talk him into a coaching position instead, because as a QB he's completely worthless.

That we know of. There are limits on what he can do as a coach.

Cutting two backup QB's who were crap, and signing a new guy is a move in the right direction. Can he be any worse than Mond and Mannion?

I wonder if the Vikes will get another franchise QB in my lifetime?

He already was a starter at one point for the 49ers and wasnt completely turrable. just wasnt anything you try to sign or trade for in a starter role.

as for franchise qb in your lifetime? do you plan to live another 50 years? if so then yes we should.

Not the end of the world, but not a flying start for the new GM.
i guess in todays world 1st round picks do usually start so i can see reason to not be thrilled but everyone says he is great and could start but he is more of a SS than a FS so it makes sense that he isnt starting qutie yet unless news has changed since i last checked. Jefferson didnt start his first 4 or so games for some reason so maybe he will get in a few weeks into the year?

The Eagles could've selected Justin Jefferson. Instead they took this guy.

Vikings new punt returner maybe?
