Except Gretzky was/is legitimately 6'0, whereas Bedard is maybe 5'9 and not growing any taller at this point.

Yup, you’re correct about Crosby went to camp as an invitee and was a final cut. Although lots has been written post event about the error that was made in doing so. Probably just revisionist interpretation .

McDavid played in the 2016 World Cup of hockey on team NA. A shitty version of the World Cup, but at least it had all nations represented unlike this 4 Nations abomination. That’s not McDavid’s fault.

Bedard is putting no roots down in Chicago and has nothing but negativity to show for it. Keep trashing Bedard. He'll request a trade soon enough

I don’t know how you came to be knowledgeable of this to say with certainty but ask anyone connected to major junior in Canada and they will attest smaller sized player published stats will typically be listed 1+ inch, 10 lbs heavier than actual. That’s reality.

I saw Connor play in Regina 3-4 times and also in the NHL now twice. Visually, he is a thick lower, small/stocky body type. He might just be 5-10, he might just be 5-9. I’m not sure it’s a big difference. He’s definitely not 5-11. He is well under average height for a forward even in todays NHL.

If he's so small and weak why did he outscore Mcdavid in junior and international play by a wide margin ? In a harder league , on worse teams

They measured him at the combine. He was 5’9.75”. No reason for any speculation that he would be less than that unless you think he is shrinking in his late teens.

Yeah you can go back at watch his U20s where he was going against players often two years older. Strong kid who could hold his own for sure. But 19 year olds are a lot different than 28 year olds. Not too worried about his strength long term. He’ll get there but yeah will take a bit of time.

Bedard is definitely going to be a superstar who probably averages 50 goals and 100+ points, anyone who doubts that based on his first two seasons is being irrational imo. But doubting he's going to be a true generational talent like mcdavid is fair, I don't think he'll ever be at that level.

Is Bedard actually slow? I've seen multiple people make that claim and I've never noticed that when watching him. Any scouting report I've read that mentioned his skating has said he was atleast a good skater.

Chicago fans if Bedard ended up being someone who averaged around 50 goals and 100-110 points in his prime would you be happy? I would be if I was a Chicago fan. Only reason not to be would be if you had your heart set on him being the next mcdavid.

He doesn't have burner speed but he's a good skater.
 
Twenny Cent, Patrick Kane, is 5'10. A generous 5'10 no taller than Bedard. Built similarly. Not especially fast but with the league's best shot or close to it. I don't see why expectations for Bedard shouldn't at least be Kane level.

MacKinnon went to a team that already had Paul Stastny, Ryan OReilly, Matt Duchene, Landeskog, Varlamov at his peak and EJ. Compare that to Athanasiou, Reichel, Hall for 3 games, Jones, it really is not comparable situations at all
