Bedard just needs to physically grow. What's happening with him is what a lot of people feared of Gretzky. Small guy. Gets pushed around. Not as much of a factor as he COULD be. The difference is one guy was the smartest player in the history of the game and it didn't matter that he was like 150 lbs soaking wet as a teenager

Bedard just needs time
Except Gretzky was/is legitimately 6'0, whereas Bedard is maybe 5'9 and not growing any taller at this point.

Nope. Crosby got cut in 2006. McDavid’s first opportunity was right now lol.
Thanks.

Yup, you’re correct about Crosby went to camp as an invitee and was a final cut. Although lots has been written post event about the error that was made in doing so. Probably just revisionist interpretation .

McDavid played in the 2016 World Cup of hockey on team NA. A shitty version of the World Cup, but at least it had all nations represented unlike this 4 Nations abomination. That’s not McDavid’s fault.

Yet another talking head gets in on the Bedard pile on.

Hilarious how Celibrini's bad defensive coverage cost the Sharks a game vs Vancouver but nobody cares.

Bedard is putting no roots down in Chicago and has nothing but negativity to show for it. Keep trashing Bedard. He'll request a trade soon enough

He's closer to 5ft10 than he is to 5ft9.

I know this board loves critiquing this kid, but questioning if he's even 5ft9 is a new one.
I don’t know how you came to be knowledgeable of this to say with certainty but ask anyone connected to major junior in Canada and they will attest smaller sized player published stats will typically be listed 1+ inch, 10 lbs heavier than actual. That’s reality.

I saw Connor play in Regina 3-4 times and also in the NHL now twice. Visually, he is a thick lower, small/stocky body type. He might just be 5-10, he might just be 5-9. I’m not sure it’s a big difference. He’s definitely not 5-11. He is well under average height for a forward even in todays NHL.

The difference i see there is MacKinnon was a physical beast and Hughes an elite skater. Bedard is small, slow, and weak. He's certainly talented but his physical attributes hold him back a bit. He's going to be an elite player but top 3 like MacKinnon? i have doubts.
If he's so small and weak why did he outscore Mcdavid in junior and international play by a wide margin ? In a harder league , on worse teams

They measured him at the combine. He was 5’9.75”. No reason for any speculation that he would be less than that unless you think he is shrinking in his late teens.
