NHL Rule:

Clubs owing two (2) draft selections in the same round, must have them available in the next three (3) drafts.

This means that Dallas gets the 2013 1st, and you get the 2014 1st.

Therefore, the signing is good.

It's the same thing, Benn first or MDZ first, I give up my 1st in 2013, 2014, 2015, and my 2nd and 3rd in 2013 and 2014. So, I'm still able to compensate for both Benn and MDZ.
