Mitch Marner Playoffs
Games 1-4:
39 points in 36 games= 1.08 PPG

Games 5-7:
9 points in 21 games= 0.43 PPG

William Nylander Playoffs
Games 1-4:
26 points in 33 games= 0.79 PPG

Games 5-7:
17 points in 21 games= 0.81 PPG

As the series goes along and the games get more important, Marner falls off heavily while Nylander remains consistent.

Adding Matthews and Tavares to this might add insight.

Again the 6th game is no more important than the 1st game... can you win a series if you only win games 5 through 7?

When the going gets tough
The tough get going,

Tavares did score the goal that won the the Leafs their only series past 8 years,

So true, JT is lacking speed and leadership, but man tries. Which is 100x more than can be said about crying Mitch.

Mitch PR team, look at Matthews ! They do not see the irony of Mitch being a freeloader on his own line, not a difference-maker.

Okay, except it didn't include even strength goals only 5v5 goals?
Over past 3 playoffs:

marner had 5 even strength goals (in 25 games)
Nylander had 7 even strength goals (in 22 games)

Yes only including 5v5 only, so 4v4 or 6v5 doesn't count

This type of list will always be based on last season.
And Willie did had a better season than MM last year.

Will see how both play this year.

Yes an No. As the mentality is different. Since losing Game 1, there are still games to play while losing Game 6 or 7 might means locker clean up day.

also quite sad the for 6 yrs the only thing that our core had done or we could really remember is that JT goal against TB where it also bounced off someone skate before going in.

6v5 would not be even strength.

4v4 is even strength.

Tre picked Nylander.

Over Marner.

No team that is interested in winning in the post season will have two wingers making over 10 AAV.

The only way to bring Marner back as a Leaf is to pay him more than Nylander.

Anyone with some cap math skills should know that IS NOT WORKABLE.

Mitch will go to the highest bidder as a UFA.

It's Ditch Mitch time.
Yup. It sucks that Tre didn’t trade him when he had control but I do understand that Tre had to see the Marner disappearing playoff act for himself

Wtf are you talking about? Remind me who the guy was that scored in game 7 against Boston, or delivered in game 6 when we needed him most? Remind me who the guy was that tied game 5 against Florida in the dying minutes of regulation when the Leafs were on the brink of elimination? Remind me who is the only one that showed up against Montreal, and also scored in game 7? He is literally the only one who actually does anything in those games.

Nah, it's only clear when you watch playoff games. On paper Mitchs assists when literally both teams stopped playing equals Nylander being a difference maker at critical moments.

Also don't forget Mitch elite on PK (not sure if article mentioned it properly !!!)! Don't let stats showing Nylander doing better on PK confuse you. It's elite Mitch all day.

He certainly likes posting about a few neutral zone dump ins hitting the net and skewing averages in a small sample, and then using it to make incorrect claims about the rest of his shots.
throw a @ sign at me so i can respond when you talk about me. The stats arent mine, they rarely are, i get my data from published articles or advanced stats. Your posts are completely biased though and baseless opinions.

Matthews
Games 1-4:

35 points In 36 games= 0.97 PPG

Games 5-7

13 points In 19 games= 0.68 PPG

Matthews hasn't been great but hasn't been awful like Marner.

I don't count JT as he was added later on.

Can we put him 21st?

Deflate his upcoming contract price, must be below Nylander......Or motivate him to show he should be ranked in top 5 wingers

How are you measuring better season?
Goals and Points for starter.
Willie carried the team for the most esp the beginning of the season.
Overall impact.

I really don’t think anyone can argue MM had a better season than Willie in 23-24. Last season was all AM and Willie.

Nylander had a great season and had more points playing more games that’s true.

How so? Maybe his disappearing acts that he does every year, have to do with mental makeup, maybe?

I mean when he was playing at a 120 point pace and dominating with whoever his linemates were. Seems pretty obvious that’s not the Nylander we’re getting going forward though but he is definitely capable of being better than Marner or atleast as good.

And primary points. Nylander was arguably the best player in the team for a decent stretch of the season. I don't think we can say the same for Marner at any point last year.

Marner is a great player, but I think most folks wouldnt cite this season when talking about his highlights with the team.
