I won't argue against the fact thar the bruins got better goaltending, but scoring one goal is hardly a winning formula. Goaltending is just one of the Jets issues.

This is not a good team. I think they know this but where handicapped by the Salary cap this year. I expect them to make some changes in the summer.

I like what they have done drafting and they seem to have a real clue and identity there going forward.

It wouldn't surprise me though to see someone like Ladd be put up for auction. I can honestly see Ladd and Buff being the two guys that they decide to move and move Scheif and Trouba as the next ones moving forward.

I mean this team is lacking a certain something. Call it whatever you want, goaltending, defensive play, system play, coaching, heart,Killer Instinct,Corsi etc.. Whatever it is and it may be a combination of things they need to change it.

Now I don't think they need to burn it down but some major tweaks need to be done.

You make them leaders. Give them As or whatever but it is their team moving forward. They are young guys and if you want a change in culture you try to change it by giving leadership roles to players who have not been involved in that culture

I agree on Ladd. I like him, but I think we get a lot for him. The only problem Thorburn becomes our second line LW.

Really? He comes out criticizing the defensive play and the reaction is "throwing the defence under the bus already". What would you have liked him to say instead?

Mind boggling isn't it, it was defensive breakdowns that led to all Bruins goals but that's on the coach right, so is having a weak defensive core, that's on the coaching as well right!:shakehead

And on the other side what NHL coach wouldn't want to go into battle with both Ladd and Little on the #1 line and have such great 3rd and 4th lines with offensive talent like Wright, Tangradi, ThorNburn, Seto, Joki, and Peluso, is it any wonder a lot of teams give their #1 goalie the night off when they play the Jets. Sad

Scheifele could easily be running away with the rookie assist lead if our players could finish some of the point blank chances he's set up.

Buffalo allows the 3rd most shots per game in the NHL. 28th. Winnipeg is 20th. Buffalo is the same horrible team that gave up 4 breakaways on us in one game, and a team that is WORSE than Edmonton. Let that sink in. Then consider:

Miller has a 926 save %.
Pavelec 901.

Save % is owned by the goaltender pure and simple and Pavs and his supporters need to own up to it instead of constantly hiding behind "terrible defense" claims.

As far as the team goes, they need to shake up the defense. I think it's clear that we don't have the right mix. We need to trade a Bufff and Stuart and bring in some more two-way guys.

Pavs needs to up his game substantially or get bought out this summer.

Fix the d mix and bring in a legit starter and this turns the team around a bit.

The weird thing is

With all that great goaltending Buffalo still sucks

I mean they should be winning shouldn't they?

Winnipeg is 17th in goals per game, Buffalo is dead last. So the Sabres in theory should be winning more, but numbers again show why as they can't score. To the point where they're the worst at in the league.

edit: dead last with a bullet too. We're only a tenth of a goal per game away from the being 12th, where as Buffalo is truly scoring inept.

So what you guys are saying is it is a team game?

No lol. Not at all, but obviously it's a team game no one is denying that. Here's the thing though, this team game has 3 components. Scoring, preventing shots, and preventing goals. The Jets are once again very average in 2 categories, and pavelec is thunderingly bad in the one he's directly responsible for. This is a team game where one piece of the team is dead weight while the others are very average.

I am not objecting to bringing a goalie but I don't think it will magically make us a playoff team.

I look at these past 2 games this weekend so far. Would you fault either loses because of goaltending?

The odd thing about Save percentage is I can think of 2 goalies with poor save percentage and good GAA with a lot of wins. Crawford and Halak.
