LOL we get to see 40 year old Dickey and his 70 mph knuckleballs instead of this flamethrower

just curious when people will stop complaining about a bad trade that happened 3 years ago. I figured people would be over it by now, bad trades happen, I guess I overestimated people.

Can you give me an estimate when you're going to stop complaining so I know when to actually pay attention again?

probably when people get to see a decent rotation

what exactly is fun about whining about a bad trade on an internet forum for 3 years?

We get it, bad trade. Donaldson trade was a good trade, so was Travis for Gose, Lind for Estrada, bad trades happen, so do good ones, complaining does nothing but get you on everyone's ignore list. Move on already.

Couldn't we keep Saunders as our 4th OF? Can't imagine his value being high. While trading Revere for a bullpen piece? If you trade Revere with what he's projected to make, can't you get the bullpen piece you get from him in a trade and maybe sign one more with the money left over?

No, I was told Lind for Estrada was bad.

Yes, both could happen.

If I can take a time out from the return of Dickey/Syndergaard handwringing, and sputtering AA melancholy-rage for a selection of not-recent tweets about everyone's favorite clueless broadcaster:

Plus a special Jays-related one:

Perhaps my favorite is this one:

The A's are clearly replete with Canadians.

Royals are pretty much destroying the idea that great pitching beats great hitting. Great pitching isn't even beating good hitting.

If the 140mil is the budget, Jays need another 10%more to get all the right deals done. Rogers should be able to afford that since the new GM will make a lot less than AA.

Everyone talks about the ex-Jays or prospects like Syndergaard, D'Arnaud and Rios but no one talks about Raul Mondesi :sarcasm:

remember when we traded guys like Kevin Comer, Joe Musgrove. Those were 1st/comp round talent, great prospects. I'm curious why nobody is complaining about losing them for garbage like Happ.

Oh right they turned into nothing in hindsight, never mind.

Trading Syndergaard was the kind of trade that gets a GM fired. So bad, that it will be talked about for decades. There really is no defending it, nor is there a need to argue about Y and Z when people are discussing X. You've just gotta ignore it or be prepared to try and defend it for the next decade. That just strikes me as tiring.

The hindsight argument also doesn't really apply, IMO. There were several posters on this board (myself included) that hated it as it was rumored to be happening. So people hated the trade before Syndergaard became what he is today.

Does bashing the organization over the trade help? No. Does living in the past about 'what could have been' help? No. I've chosen to just move on. It's entirely possible, realistic even, that this organization can still win and be widely successful without Syndergaard.

Musgrove is still a prospect. Showcased incredible control this year and his fastball is hitting mid 90s.

I hated it too at the time, so no it's not only hindsight, but a lot of people here who complain had no idea who Syndergaard was at the time. They weren't here complaining because we traded a great prospect. Syndergaard turned into something so now they think it was stupid.

Not everyone thinks about it in hindsight of course, but most of the people here to complain about it every other week are the type who don't follow the game all that closely, don't understand the volatility of prospect capital, and had no idea who Syndergaard was at the time, that's the annoying part. The knowledgeable people who hated the trade at the time for valid reasons aren't the ones who complain about it all the time, they've let it go. I wish everyone would.

I absolutely hated it back then too. Hell, I already thought D'Arnaud was too much, but losing Noah as well really made me mad, even as raw as he was.
