Forbert was so slow on their 1st goal and the guy drove right around him as if was a pylon.

He missed that one no doubt - but I thought he was the Jets best D Thursday night.
Everyone on the blueline looks a little off at this point - I expect they'll tighten up as they gets more games and more consistent pairings

Yup, KC is looking great as the new trigger man.......he is going to score a lot of goals & points.

Agree - I also think Scheif is also going to be shooting a lot more this year on the PP - right now, he has wheeler down low as a option so he hasn't been firing as many as he could. I can see 2 shooting options now along with who ever is net front (Stast's for now).
Taking the shooting option away from Wheels was the right thing to do - and his passing is going to be more effective when he's not always looking for that seam like LY -
The complete PP has changed - I like it a lot.

A bit crazy game, but the Connor goal was lovely and so was the Copp-Stastny-Ehlers line.

Senators is easily one of the worst teams, but still to beat 6 out of 6 is huge going forward.

A sad day for Winnipeg and Jets fans ends on a positive note.

My thoughts:

CSW — Absolutely dominant again. Connor will quickly help us forget about Laine. He’s almost as good of a goal scorer. He’s electric, and a threat whenever he has the puck. So happy he’s here long-term. Scheifele was toying with the Sens. Him and Dubois are gonna create some super unfavourable matchups for the opposition. Wheeler was good again; this was 2017-18 Wheeler. Hope it sticks around.

CSE - This line just clicked all night. We need to find a way to lock Copp up. He’s elite defensively, and the offense is coming. He’ll never be PPG, but he’s a good play driver who can also play centre if necessary. He seems to have chemistry with whatever line we put him on. Stastny continues to play the right way and it’s nice to seem him rewarded with some points. Keep it up. I thought Ehlers might have had a poor game considering his best friend was just traded away, but that clearly didn’t happen. He was maybe our best forward tonight. Just all over the ice. So good. I think he’s turned another corner.

VLA - Has a nice ring to it. Vesalainen was solid. I was surprised at how big he is. He looks like Laine :DD. I thought he was creative and I see some good potential there. Would like to see him get more ice time. Hopefully he stays in over guys like Thompson. Lowry was beasting again. Please extend him (after the expansion draft). Appleton was good too. I can see him breaking out too, he’s been close to scoring the past few games, once he finally pots one, he might catch fire. Should easily replace Roslovic.

PHL - This line surprised me. Perreault seems to be transforming his game into that of an agitator. He’s overpaid, no doubt, but that’s a role that’s missing from our lineup. He’s been very tenacious this season. Harkins was decent, I think he has looked better on the wing but it’s hard to tell because they got such little ice time. Lewis looks like a nice signing. Just a good, hardworking lunch pail guy.

44-2 - Morrissey with a good game, he’s looked better since dumping Niku. He can’t carry garbage but he looks good when he has a decent partner. I thought DeMelo struggled in the first period but quickly adjusted and was solid through the second half of the game.

24-4 - Forbort continues to surprise me. He was solid yet again. Seeming like a legitimate option in our top 4 (at least for now). Pionk is still a beauty. The offensive flair is evident, but now the defence is good too. Use the money we gained from trading Laine to extend him long-term. And he’s been better than Trouba again ;)

64-88 - I thought this was Stanley’s weakest game. A careless penalty and he got beat a few times. Still, much better than Niku. That hit on that goon, Haley, was awesome. That’s a taste of what the big man can bring. I’d like to see him with a more competent partner, but I’d keep playing him. Beaulieu was meh. At least he had a decent scrap.

Bucky was not good but he did enough to get us the win. I’m not worried about him.

PLD’s interview was meh. He dodged the questions for sure, but I don’t know what else you would really expect him to do. My guess is he wants to play in a more traditional hockey market and he didn’t wanna outright shit on Columbus lol. Sounds like he’s happy to come here, but so was Laine four years ago ... :sarcasm:

Other than that, great game, and it’s nice to be able to take six points from Ottawa.

On to the next one, let’s beat the crud out of McDavid and his bum teammates. :)

Nothing feels better than winning! Still very impressed with Stanley’s simple game. Will he come out when Poolman is healthy?

On the main boards there is a thread about bold predictions for the year. I posted that Connor would lead the league in scoring - you can imagine some of the replies... Guess who the leading scorer in the league is this morning? Who knows how long that will last but Connor is playing very good so far.

Also nice to win when Helly lets in a few weak ones.

Its only fans and media who number lines. Scheifele and Connor will rack up the points, and a Copp-PLD-Ehlers line will hem the opponents all night long. Together they will be a dominant top 6.
I meant more about minute allocation. I will just be happy to see to top six evened out if they are equally effective.

Can someone tell me why the Senators inserted Michael Haley into the lineup, did they think he was going to light up the scoreboard, don't they already have enough knuckle draggers on that team, somebody tell DJ Smith that talent wins, this isn't a face punching competition.
