How about Carle as well? Tampa is probably just like Chicago right now, panicking about cap space. I think the big difference with this trade and a potential Bickell one (besides the fact Bickell is real dollars) is Florida didn't necessarily need to do this or do it right now.

Chicago absolutely needs to move Bickell to do anything, and that desperation should tip the market in other team's favor.

So why bother? It doesn't seem they really needed the space since they could just LTIR him.

This also sets the market for these kind of trades this offseason and means the value isn't very good.

Since it's so far off, we pretty much forget about it for the time being, but when June of 2018 rolls around it will be pretty sweet to have an additional asset from a long-ago trade.

It seems amazing that Savard is still under contract. It's been forever since he played.

A little curious why Florida would do this, especially since they are likely losing Campbell's $7m. Perhaps some other moves are in order for them.

When I got home after work, I took a nap for about 2 hours or so. I might have had a dream that Graham Black was put back into the draft this year. Now I know that Graham Black is too old to go back into the draft, but dreams are so weird like that.

I definitely had a dream about Black that he was put back into the draft, I just can't remember if it was just now or if it was last night or the night before. Since I have so much trouble remembering when dreams took place. It was definitely in the last two days though. Just thought that was kind of funny with what just happened.

If you have a hard salary cap you're going to have deals like this. Penalizing teams for reacting creatively to a restriction is silly.

Because Devils fans know the NHL never penalizes teams for reacting creatively.
