Confirmed Trade: [NJD/EDM] Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson ‎- Part 2

Gotta appreciate that Edmonton got a defenceman, but Larsson is a #3 IMO. All-around good defenceman, but not sure if he'll ever be a minute-muncher, + player.

Hall has a big cap-hit, 6M. Can't keep that with McDavid, Draisaitl, and the other young guys around. Overpaid for a #3 though.

I think Larsson is definitely worth more...but Gudbranson returned a middle first round pick.... Larsson returns one of the best wingers in the league...in his prime. what?!?!?

Gudbranson is a pylon though.
 
It's a classic Chia trade. He values defense over offense and doesn't care much for young forwards with any baggage.

That being said, Oiler fans are overreacting. Larsson is a great player and makes your defense way better. Hall also never had as much value as you all thought he did.

You have too much offense anyway

I think that's exactly it. We didn't focus on what was coming on our end nearly as much as what was coming back. Larsson > Hamonic/Brodin/etc

I have a soft spot for the Oilers, especially for Nuge/McJesus. But I just don't get it, Hall is a top 5 winger, at worst a top 10 winger. Larsson as good as he seems through advanced stats/D-zone isn't worth Hall. Idk anymore what's worth what lol.

-Will the overall offseason make them better? Likely
-Should Taylor, an elite level winger, gotten them more than a at best #2 (and yes ive watched him play and that is exactly what he is). F yeah he should have.

A guy like Eberle should get a guy like Larsen not Hall.

I don't think you're right. Anyone who'se ever been watching Larsson will agree with you that he's a good two-way guy. But Taylor Hall is on of the best wingers in the game and he's young and propably getting even better. The return for him was laughable even if Larsson is very good and a type of player that Edmonton needs. Try Eberle for Larsson and it would be fair.

Also, I like this trade better than the Kessel trade. It's definitely not the worst trade in NHL history at all. Not even the worst 1 for 1 trade. I would argue the other trade today was worse for value's sake.

The Kessel trade resulted in a Stanley Cup in year one and provided the Pens with scoring depth that nobody could account for, and the team remains in contention with HBK firmly intact. Larsson isn't a "get us over the hump" type of player.
 
Wingers just don't have amazing value. We're getting a young Dman with huge potential -- probably higher than Klefbom.

The more I think about this trade, the more I like it, actually. Especially if we also get Demers.

Klefbom - Larsson
Sekera - Demers
Davidson - Fayne

And LOL at the reaction in this thread. Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) here has been on Chia's ass about making a move for a Dman, and I just knew he would get ripped NO MATTER WHAT the trade was. We could've got five 1st round picks with Larsson, but Oiler Bashing Future would still be chewing Chia apart.

Anyway, looks like we're getting Lucic, and he's going to bring more on the ice than Lucic. The goal scoring isn't that much off.

Really curious what the Islanders were offering now. Still surprised they didn't move RNH first, or go after Weber.

In edm defence they needed a Dman (this makes me happy because I think it raised shattenkirks value) but the subban for Weber deal makes no scence for Montreal they downgrade on defence while picking up a bad contract for ten more years at least subban is still a top ten Dman at worst probably more top five.

Absolutely. From a Wild fans perspective this is sweet, sweet justice. Having to endure those months of trades of "RNH for ++++++++++++++++++++" and now getting to watch Edm melt the **** down is pure gold.
