This might be the best part of the thread. Both players are on the same level. Nyquist has a very slight lead in career g/g, a/g and p/g but Henrique also being a center gives extra value to even it out.

When it comes to advanced metrics, it's Henrique who couldn't even lick Nyquist's jock strap.

Are you only evaluating scoring? Henrique is infinitely more important to the Devils than Nyquist is to the Red Wings. Adam had 30 goals last season as well and is much better in the defensive zone, plays tougher minutes, and is a Center so he holds more value positionally as well.

In a one for one swap, the Devils would decline and laugh at the offer, the Wings would take it and run. Devils fans almost never even think about trading Adam as he is a core piece to this team. I've seen Nyquist name pop up consistently on the Wings trade block rumors.

deals aside, OP is right on one thing and that is that Detroit is in a crappy spot cap wise going forward.

which confuses me why they signed an over 30 crnter to a 5-6 year deal but whatever

and Id trade Santini for Larkin, then trade Zacha+ for another dman and go from there

yeah there is no contest that if a trade occurded itd be Detroit addig to Nyquist for Henrique.

one can score just as much as the other AND play d AND be one of the best PKers in the league? give me that one (its Henrique)

Why are we even talking about Nyquist for Henrique?

Detroit needs defenseman and has a surplus of forwards.

Only defenseman I would even want from NJD is Severson, and he probably costs more than he is worth in a trade.

and Id trade Santini for Larkin

Yeah, I bet you would. Would never happen in a million years.

The phrase "can't lick his jock strap" is something said to describe absolute dominance between two players and was used by Fear the Wushu to compare Nyquist and Henrique. My point was that they are nowhere near that far apart in value. Henrique is way better defensively but Nyquist dominates in possession.

Yeah, obviously Henrique is going to shoot the puck at 20.1 % again next year and score 30 goals.

I mean no way is that unsustainable or anything...

Maybe I'm coming off as too intense. I'm just passionate and trying to make my line of thought as clear as possible.
Well all understand your line of thinking, just exactly 0 people agree with you.

This is awful for the Wings and we have many better options.

Henriques line is going to have Palms and Hall on it, if anything his points are going to go up by a good margin.

If only the NHL worked that way. /Signed the fans of stacked teams who acquired Kessel, Hossa, Kesler, MSL, etc.

But the real point here is that pretty much no one sustains a 20%+ shooting percentage, which suggests his goal scoring stats could be anomalous.

I'm not at all sure if the Devil's scoring will go up this year. While we added Hall, we've lost guys like Schlemko on the backline who could drive the play forward. I'm worried that we'll be pinned in our zone trying to break out now.

If Severson steps up, and Hall and Henrique gets a lot of breakaways, we'll see the scoring go up, but we were a pretty terrible possession team last season and while Hall is great at that, he's not going to be able to do it alone by himself.

If Zacha makes the team, let's hope he's good in that department too. Hard to judge right now who's going to make the team and what our offense will be like until training camp.

But that is how it works. Henrique is being paired with his best linemate in his career thus far (Hall).

Chemistry isnt lost - Hall and Henrique will put up a fair amount of points.

Junior chemistry =/= NHL chemistry. I also think you are forgetting that Henrique has played with Kovalchuk, Parise, and Cammalleri in the past. Those guys are pretty good.
