No way, I dont want to trade Caufield for ANYTHING of NJ. NJ just dont have what it takes.
Does anybody trade away any 40-50 goal 21 year old 1st line forward ??? Just to put the right spin on this.
even if you offer 3 late round 1st rounders, that MIGHT and MAYBE be a 40-50 goal guy. remember I already have one in Caufield no if's and maybes about it.. He is already mine and will be for 8 more years at least
Why do you think YOU WANT HIM in the first place.
Oh god.

It gets better with every comment. Is there no electricity in Montreal? No TV? No internet?

Are you really comparing Forsberg with Nemec
Not needed to be. Caufield is also just about half of Lindros. Half the size, half the weight and not half the player.

Nick Villano, hosts of Let's Go Devil's podcast, and Picks and Pitchforks blogger. Offered Holtz, Nemec a '23 first rounder and '24 first rounder for Cole Caufield.

I know most Habs fans won't do it. But offer is massive.
Glad Villano is not the GM tell him to stick to podcasting....No way NJ gives that up....Hans need to sign him not trade him...

Suzuki and Caufield are the stars that Montreal have been waiting for a long time so has much has the devils would be giving only Nemec is worth anything late first can be flops and holtz a big question mark so why trade a young and coming star for a bunch of question marks.

Fitz won't do that

Then move Holtz asap for a Timo trade, won't cost much more, Holtz has good chemistry with Ecklund
Why give up on Holtz so early....After we sign Bratt is Meier really the add that gets us a cup? I'm not so sure...Holtz is cost controlled that's a big advantage to give up

Do you also consider Jack Hughes a 56 point player since he never scored more than that in a season?
hey Matthews didn't get credit for being a 50 goal scorer until he did and that was him falling 3 goals behind in a season cut short by covid. I didnt make the rules HF did.
'either way Caufield is not a 40-50 goal scorer yet has a long way to go. still needs 35 more goals this season......

Very strange to me why anyone thinks Montreal would ever say yes to this. Caufield has been playing like a star since St Louis came in. You don't trade a 21 year old who plays like he does for prospects/picks, just absolutely no way. We have enough magic beans in the cupboard and If we really wanted Nemec we would have drafted him.

It's of course fine to say New Jersey would never give that up for Caufield, but no way MTL even considers this.

tbh, they don't. They obviously aren't going to trade Jack Hughes so what's the point of trading Caufield to them?
as you say, the devils absolutely have the pieces needed to get caufield. but i am sure, they won't offer them up for him.

Nemec is not going anywhere especially with severson being in the last year of his deal and nemec seemingly being the beneficiary of his departure

Pwr fwd with size, that's a need
Agree on cost control
Getting 24M back this summer on ufa/rfa depending on who is brought back
1 yr left on Schneider dead cap of $2M, cap going up.
Could be worse

It does seem extraordinarily unlikely that the Habs would trade the very productive 21 year winger who is vibing with a young center that has 7 more years on his contract.

But the solution to “what would get the Habs to give up Caufield?” isn’t making what the blogger himself calls an “insane trade offer” that includes the 2022 2OA, 2020 7OA, and two future 1st picks.

The solution is “oh well, I’ll make a fantasy Devils proposal for a different winger for less assets”.

People can debate who hates this more but that’s like arguing which driver is more unhappy about a car accident. Everyone is unhappy, it’s a car accident.

For once a honest reply. Thanks for that.
Also as much as Caufield is loved already in Montreal any deal for him would lead to the GM being chased out of the city by a mob with pitch forks so there is that also....not likely

Also it was 4am when I wrote that so just cause it was honest doesn't mean I am right. I could be a complete moron.....
