Nintendo Switch #5

The N64 mostly excelled at couch multiplayer games. Mario Kart, the Mario Party games, Super Smash Bros., Diddy Kong Racing, the wrestling games, Golden Eye... The console was mostly held up by Nintendo exclusives as third party support was poor and that explains why the console has one of the smallest libraries.

The N64 missed on the 3D revolution of companies pushing new boundaries. So no Squaresoft/Enix games when they were at the height of their creative powers, no Capcom with Resident Evil (except the second game) and no Konami with Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. There are many more series that were started or revolutionized on the PSX that don't exist on the N64 and it simply covered a lot more genres.
The choice to use cartridges over CDs is a major reason there was limited third-party support.

I had both consoles at some point, both had their advantages and disadvantages. The PlayStation had capacity to do bigger and better things with sharper music and videos, but the loading times for doing just about anything were near intolerable. N64 loaded quickly and played smoothly, but was limited in what it could do and had unique graphical capabilities.

In retrospect I have more nostalgia for N64 but it's probably because I owned it first.

N64 games also cost a fortune because of the cartridges. Renting games as an option eased that a bit back then but the console would have been completely crushed if it was released in that state today. It would have performed as bad or even worse than the Wii U.

Yea, it would have been just an excuse for them to raise it, if they did. They didn't, follow along.

I know we established earlier that you can't read articles people post, but now you can't even read your own posts when I quote them for you?

Here is your prediction again, since you somehow missed it last time:
Incoming $500 Switch 2s.
That's what your prediction was. Now you're claiming you didn't expect the price to increase? Why try to lie about something like that?

They walked back most of the tariffs since then, "lmao". Do you live in a different temporal reality?

The delay wasn’t about tariffs anyway. Nintendo was hoping the backlash to their outrageous decisions would die down.

Still not buying this steaming turd. I’ll just play the first Switch for a few more years.

Ended up securing my preorder through Best Buy who started their queue late. Was in queue for almost an hour. Had a bundle in my cart on Target two minutes in but the purchase never went through. Apparently they're canceling pre-orders left and right. Scalpers ruin everything.

No Preorder for me. $500 to pay a remastered BOTW is not worth it. Maybe after more games come out. The DK game looks like a boring Mario Oddyssey skin.

I saw that the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle costs $700 CAD. My Switch cost me under $400 CAD with a game and my most expensive console purchase was my PS5 with a disc drive at $500 CAD. Just pure madness.

Was able to secure a pre-order of the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle on Walmart's site at about 12:15am. Took me about 10 tries of adding to cart and checking out before it finally went through. The site experience in those 15 minutes was predictably a shitshow.

As soon as I received my order confirmation email I received another stating that there's a delay with the item...which from what I'm reading a lot of people were advised of the same. Oh well, at least the order was confirmed and the charge pending on my card.

$800 after taxes which is a BIG yikes.

Unfortunately can't seem to checkout on Staples.
They went OOO - Canada Computers now live.

Also pricing on some of the games is out....

Best Buy crashed. Expecting the same with GameStop at noon. It wasn't entirely smooth but looks like I made the right call with Walmart at midnight.

What a (predictable) shitshow.
