I upgraded my phone and Best Buy offered me a gift card from them. I used it forwards buying Animal Crossing Horizon. I’ve never played Animal Crossing but everyone always tells me you need to play this game. Any tips or advice in what I just got myself into? I plan to start it tonight.

I had never played any of them before and picked it up during the pandemic, I found it to be very calm and soothing, no shooting or killing anything, just planting flowers and picking fruit and catching fish and stuff, really sucked me in for several months

Tip: Do not compare your island to all those nice ones you see on the internet.

If you decide to play animal crossing full time.... lol.

I pretty much did and my island still looked like an 8 year old made it, I guess I was more of a rock breaker and tree chopper than a creative artistic genius

As many dads and grandfathers have said, "The world needs ditch diggers too" apparently that is even true in virtual worlds

I think they should shoot for PS4 Pro Xbox One X graphic fidelity, to keep the price somewhat low. Go for the cheaper screen then release an updated one a few years in. Maybe have the option of the opposite of the Lite and take screen out and make it TV only for those that never used the Switch portably? There are a bunch of ways tgey could go with this.

What’re the chances my digitally purchased Switch games would be accessible on a Switch 2? What’s SOP on Xbox and PlayStation isn’t always the case for Nintendo. Would be real annoying if I can’t play BOTW/TOTK on upgraded hardware without buying the games again.

Likely, but I'd just buy physical copies.

I think that Nintendo has been open about NSO being carried over whenever the Switch replacement comes, so I can only hope that the same would apply to backwards compatibility. Especially given how utterly enormous that the Switch install base is, I don't know why they'd voluntarily close the door on that library, too.

Granted, Nintendo has a proclivity to follow up a smash hit console with a bomb, so I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to **** the bed.

Has any console other than the WiiU really bombed?

The N64 was not a success either being heavily supplanted by the first PlayStation. The lost a ton of developer support because of cartridges restrictions and the games were very expensive too.

Dominance of the handheld market is what held Nintendo together between the SNES and Wii. They combined both for the Switch and the rest is history.

I've heard some rumours, we'll see if they come true.

The last Mario Kart wave will likely debut here. Other than that, maybe they'll follow up on that Peach game and... I don't really know. TotK isn't getting any DLC. The Switch is definitely in its twilight so I'm not expecting any heavy hitters. Ports/Remakes of Wii/DS games, probably.

I'm not expecting anything too exciting here but who knows.
