I think most people buy one for the Nintendo exclusives and the indies on it. That's what I use my Switch OLED for. If I want a premium AAA experience with 3rd party games, I'll boot up my PS5. It's not like other systems are getting two of the best games from 2017 (BoTW and Mario Odyssey).

Since my gaming days are past behind me, I'd go for the Nintendo nostalgic. My gaming died around early 2010, I just gave up and didn't care for it anymore.

I'd take Metroid Dread over Mario Odyssey, personally (not a big Breath of the Wild guy either).

In hindsight though, I am somewhat regretting not getting a PS4 instead back when I bought this.

I still got to get around to playing Dread. Been too busy lately to get going on a new game.

Glad to see this game is getting continued support. I would still love to see some kind of offline story mode or something along those lines.

Played through Into the Breach: Advanced Edition's "Unfair Mode" and its difficulty is really intense but surprisingly not actually unfair-- Perfect if you've fully adjusted to Hard mode. The update completely flew under my radar (did not expect a random major update 4 years after release), the changes really complete the game, and it's really solidified itself as a perfectly designed experience/all-time favorite for me (if it wasn't already), personally.

I'm still waiting on a new Golden Sun sequel. Hopefully once GBA games are added it'll rekindle people's love for the series.

I'm glad to see that the new Strikers game will have Daisy added, it actually might entice me to buy the game. Daisy deserves more love in the Mario games.

Golden Sun! What a throwback! I'd love to see another game or a remake of the originals come out for the Switch.

I'd give anything for either of those. It's a series that aged really well, and on a handheld hybrid system like the Switch, I think it could really thrive.

Suddenly realizing that I'm gonna have to play Xenoblade in handheld. My stereo receiver died shortly after Three Houses so I've just used headphones for everything since then but Nintendo couldn't find a way to put a headphone jack in their $90 pro controller.

Might finally buy some of those Hori joycons to avoid giving myself arthritis.

Can one jump into the Xenoblade world having played none of the prior games? Or should I go back and start with the Xenoblade 1 remaster.

Yes, you can definitely jump in at 3 and not feel lost.

The Switch was my first Nintendo console in decades so Xenoblade 2 was the first Xenoblade game I could play (1 wasn't yet ported). I started there and didn't feel like I was missing anything but not having played the first game. I'd say ~98% of the game progressed before any connection to the other game, the last few cutscenes in the endgame referenced stuff that I could tell were from the first game by context. But it was definitely a complete story without any prior knowledge.

From the reviews I've seen 3 will be similar. Maybe a few more hints and winks earlier in the game compared to 2 (a couple of the new characters in the trailers seem to be different versions of characters from 1/2) but the Xenoblade games are always standalone efforts that can be enjoyed without knowing the history and lore. Hell, I know people that never played XC2 but did play Torna, which was a standalone XC2 expansion prequel.

This one seems to have the strongest reviews yet and appears to combine a lot of the best elements from the first two games, so in that way it might be the best introduction to the series. But I could also get wanting to understand all the passing references and appreciate the way this might tie in the first two worlds. So it's up to you, but I'd definitely recommend the series as they're some of my favourite modern JRPG's.

I've tried XC1 multiple times over the years (putting in over 20 hours on one occasion) and I just couldn't get passed how bland and uninspired it all was, it felt soul-less and empty. I've read one review for the new one and they remark that the characters, overall story and side quests, and combat system (my main draw for any JRPG) are all super solid. I'd like to see a review for XC3 from someone that didnt care for XC1 much.

So I'm right at the final boss for XC1 right now as a finish it before XC3 releases. I do think that the characters are pretty bland. I think the story is pretty good, but it is more of a slow burn aside from a big incident a few hours in. In the final quarter of the game the story really gets going with pretty frequent revelations.

XC2 definitely made their characters a lot more lively. There was much more frequent conversations, the tone was a lot lighter and fun, most people adored the main party. I think the story carried more momentum consistently, everything feels a lot more energetic than XC1. But they really went overboard with the fan service and weird Japanese sex jokes, a lot of people hated that aspect. They also had some terrible game mechanics, like gachas and forcing you to navigate convoluted menus frequently while exploring.

XC3 is supposed to keep the banter and likeable party members while drastically toning down the boobs and refining the game systems so it does seem to be the best of both worlds for a lot of fans.
