Wasn't his upside compared to Boqvist's a lot prior to the draft year? I think at this point I would take Lundvist

Boqvist has already dipped his toes at the pro level and there's no substitute for that, but I don't envision there being a long transition period for Lundvist
I think he was seen as the budget Boqvist, not as high of a ceiling, but not as low of a floor either

This sounds accurate to me. Also better defensive game but lower offensive is what i remember reading/hearing.

I wanted him pre-draft, just to get another Lundkvist lol. Also wanted Miller, based off a Corey Snazjder (def spelled that wrong) microstats thing, which showed him as close to 100th percentile in most if not all of the measured stats over the sample

He was mentioned often by various scouts in the same sentence as Boqvist. One also likened him to Ty Smtih. I just re-read a lot of the guides about him from 18 draft. Surprised at the amount of scouts that praised his physical play. Some said that is what seperates him from the rest of the smaller sized defenseman in that years class. There was an abundance of smaller sized puck moving defenders in 18. Boqvist, Hughes, Smith, Addison, Merkley, Sandin, Tychonick. Gordie isn't looking so bad on this pick.

From Blackbook;

"He was as good as Boqvist if not better at Five Nations- April 18"
"There were a few times I mistook him for Boqvist- April 18"

"He’s a Right Handed Ty Smith- May 18"

I think it was more that he was more raw than Boqvist, not the ceiling. He needed more time to cook but the tools were there. Obviously with any player who is more raw there is a higher probability of them not reaching all of that potential as well. Hence why he slipped a little bit.

The way I remember it was that they were both raw but Boqvist was much more dynamic with a better skill set offensively and lacking defensively, and Lundkvist was a good not great offensive player but also a good defensive player because he could think the game so well. I think the view of their ceilings has changed a little since the draft to bring Lundkvist closer

Writing at the moment. Interviewed Nils Lundkvist today. This is one of the quotes I wanted to share while I put everything together
