Because he doesn’t ride the Hog, he is the hog, and he is coming to ride you!

Love this guy! So glad he's turned it around. Important for the organization to get players like this from within too. Now hopefully Podkolzin follows suit.
 
Missed most of the game only to turn it on and see Hoglander’s crazy forechecking on the dump in that led to possession around the 6:50 mark. I know he has his defensive lapses but he can do all the puck retrieval things PDG was doing for that line earlier in the year while actually providing some offense himself.

I’m hoping last nights game is the turning point for him to really solidify himself as a top 6 player and a mainstay on Miller’s line. He was a beast.
 
That pirouette along the end wall last night had two Blues players crashing into each other as they tried to stop him.

Hard to remember a Canuck player who spins off contact better than Hoglander. Watching a couple of undersized wingers like Hoglander and Garland work their magic along the walls, has been one of the most underrated pleasures of watching the Canucks this season.

He is playing an entertaining style of hockey for sure. If for not any other reason that is enough to hope for his success.

They should keep doing exactly what they're doing with him.

They bumped him up to Miller's line earlier this season and he was crap. Didn't work well with other skill players, didn't bring the same energy in bigger minutes, was exposed defensively in higher leverage.

I think it works for short periods of time as a reward. Same with some 2nd unit PP minutes. He gets them as a treat for doing well in the trenches. Sam Lafferty got the same treatment.

For sure. Getting him an extra minute or two by spotting him up the lineup for a shift or a period when a line is lacking energy is great.

Bumping him up to 16 high-leverage minutes, not so much.

Also with young high-energy smaller players, they usually can’t maintain that play style with elevated minutes. Usually takes a while, if they ever figure it out, to learn out how to do it.

He’s kinda like Garland. Needs to be the driver of his own line
