^ I really don't understand why we've tried just about everyone in the top six besides Beauvillier (Garland, Hoglander, Di Giuseppe, I think even Lafferty/Joshua had random one-off shifts up the line-up), who actually has a shot of re-kindling top 6 chemistry.

There have been games where he's looked somewhat invisible, but on lines that don't really suit his style of play. I think "third supplementary guy that adds a bit of versatility on an offensive line" is a decent spot for him.

I’d guess Tocchet hasn’t felt he’s earned it, but I think that’s something worth considering as well. The top two lines haven’t really been rolling outside of Miller so it’s probably worth a shakeup. Moving Mikheyev to the Miller line and putting Beauvillier with Pettersson might be an option as well since Beau played well there for a spell last year and Mik hasn’t been gelling on the 1st lately

All of you suck

I actually haven't been able to tell what about Hoglander has been drawing the ire of other teams so much this year. Is it really just a reaction to his improved tenacity and nothing else? Hansen didn't piss off the opposition half as bad. Other than this one dirty play that feels like an outlier, I haven't actually spotted him doing anything physically borderline, chirpy, troll-y or agitator-ish. Given the reaction, he must be, though, right? Have others noticed anything?

It's kind of strange.
I believe Hoglander's lack of size makes him an easier target.

The feeling is mutual. Hockey fan obsessions with brainstorming forced nicknames is genuinely one of the more off-putting things about the sport for me, personally. If one happens to arise organically and sounds cool (which does sometimes happen), great, but I can't think of many things that makes me physically wince harder than the thought of someone unironically calling a player "Hoggy Boy Lander" in real life, hoping that it catches on.

This is the kind of player I could see completely elevating his game in the playoffs.

Love how he isn't afraid to play physical.

I'd be trading picks and prospects to improve the team before trading Hoglander. Makes a guy like Beauvillier fully expendable.

Guys, we might have a coach that can actually develop young guys.

Like for him to get a major for the slew foot, and then keep playing with the same edge, and aggression, and confidence.

Seems like for the last decade they would have stapled him to the bench and treated him in a way that crushed his confidence.

Full credit to the team and for sure Hog himself.

Hogs is 9th in goals scored from the 2019 draft class. The next lowest picked player above him in goals scored is Alex Newhook at 16th overall. And he has less games played than every goal scorer in front of him except Boldy.

And 12th in points from the 2019 class as well.

What a great pick he was at 40th.

Hoglander was the MVP last year in his time at Abby, but Pod realising his potential is a lot more valuable for a long playoff drive.

Pod compares well to Nichushkin and Hog more like Lehkonen. Having these two continue to develop for us extends the window for our core until Willander, Raty and Lekk starts contributing.

I like these comparisons. I think we got spoiled with Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes jumping quickly into major roles.

Becoming quality supporting players in the top 9 is still a win in my books.

Love seeing him play with that level of jam and physicality. He absolutely smacked Tanev, who himself is a heckuva physical player.

I do understand why Tochet and co have given him short rope. While he came into the league with some NHL ready skills he also had many attributes such as defensive reads and risk management.

The NHL isn't a development league. Hoggy isn't some surefire first line talent where you might be willing to live with some warts in the short term. He doesn't PK or play PP, he needs to demonstrate consistently as a non liability to stay in the lineup and make his way up.

Hope he can build on this run of play and keep going! At his best he's a player that plays a heavy game despite his size thriving in contact (like Jarvis).

He's a little like yanni gourde. Small skilled tenacious physical forechecker

a month ago people were throwing Hogs and Podz in trade discussions .... now we are realizing that hogs is a great energy player. His time in abby did him good, and he now seems to be NHL ready.

If Podz can step up later this season, and have a few of Bains Raty klimovich Kravatsov Lekkerimaki etc become players in the next year or 2, along EP2 Willander and a slew of our other 3 - 4th rd d men step up, we are looking fairly comfortable for the next 3 - 4 years.

We are finally in that position of having a decent team, with a rosy looking prospect group coming up. Finally.

After the last couple of games, you can see why Hoglander's name comes up every time teams come calling about trade possibilities with the Canucks.

He's the kind of kid every team hates, unless he's playing for you. Now up to seven goals with limited ice-time and a few healthy scratches. Never takes a shift off, and his balance and low center of gravity are a load for d-men in their own zone.

He's going to be a fun player to watch for the rest of the season.

You do live a blessed life if you have time to worry about things like this.

Not just worry but it is one of the more off-putting this about a hobby for you.

It takes no effort or concern/worry whatsoever to find something off-putting. You just disagree with something and want to frame it in a negative way.

Besides, it's an especially funny sentiment to try to skew when you're writing this on a message board where everyone expresses their distaste towards just about everything that is related to this "hobby", whether it be management decisions, player effort, reffing, the color of a jersey, the way people use stats, the list is endless. It's no different to comment on fan tendencies. In fact, I was replying to someone who was doing exactly the same, and you're doing the same now too.

I suppose we all do live a blessed life in a way if we're posting on a message board in the first place, that's probably true.

How does this guy have so many goals and points playing 10 minutes a game? Must be some kind of record?
