Player Discussion Nikita Zadorov

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

The people don't like him because they cherry pick stats while ignoring literally everything else.
His on ice sv percentage by goalies is .907 His PDO is 101.2 in all situations. Both better than McAvoy, that's with McAvoy getting 64% of his starts in the Ozone and Zad at 63% in the dzone. . The modern day Bruins fan remember are anti-toughness and pro making the playoffs is enough, doesn't matter what happens.

It was hard to know exactly how to interpret Zad's initial comments, but I felt it was quite likely he was just frustrated with the question after a bad loss, rather than trying to cast shade on Swayman.

Having said that, in his later clarifying comments, he doesn't exactly seem to talk about Swayman as a teammate in the same glowing way that, say, Pasta talked about Marchand when there were questions about those two being on the outs. But these guys don't need to all be best buds with each other.

And even though having your highly paid goaltender letting in stinkers must be frustrating, especially for a defender, I'll take Zad at his word that he wasn't being critical of Swayman.

If he was a legit 1A, he'd have been one by now. The guy is in his 12th season and has around 625 NHL games.

I'm happy with his contribution this year, but lets stop talking about him like he's some prospect. He is what he is.....A solid bottom 4 Dman on a good team.
I agree, except that sometimes the right coach or captain or even situation can get the message to a player, even at this point in a career. I now think of what could have been with him more than anything, but I still see the skill all over him to do it.

Zaddy is well known for not being shy about conveying his feelings and that is what happened here. He's paid the ultimate price for speaking up about things and yet, still continues to do so. I personally find it refreshing.

They lost 7-2 and the reporter was just trying to do his job. Other local media then decided to turn what was said into something it wasn't for clickbait and ratings. I don't fault the beat writer at all and I certainly don't fault Zaddy for being brutally honest in the moment.

My issue continues to be with the bloggers, radio stations and some podcasters who are rooting for this team to fully collapse so they can rip on the usual suspects and demand trades and people be fired.

This is such a non story.

I think that's BS.

Yup

He was asked couple weeks ago if his and Lorgei's aggressive play was contributing to some of the success they were having.

He took a moment and he picked the question apart to make it clear that he plays a physical game but isn't aggressively running around to make a hit and that Lorhei is a completely different player with a completely different skill set and game.

It was refreshing to hear someone thoughtfully respond to a not so well thought out question. He chose no comment for Swayman's actions which IMO was the right call but not enough for the outrage machine that is modern media.

I rest my case your honor. No cup wins in a decade, four head coaches, past round 2 once, team further away at any point since Dave Lewis. Time for a new vision for the next incarnation of the Bruins

So what does this have to do with your original point?

"The modern day Bruins fan remember are anti-toughness and pro making the playoffs is enough, doesn't matter what happens."

This is what I responded to. Somehow you turned it into a referendum on Don Sweeney.

You’re more than happy making the playoffs without winning it all. They didn’t come close in 90 pct of their playoff trips. You probably do like the tougher Bruins teams though so I’m sorry I lumped you in.

What exactly about this GM/President makes you want to keep them?

You specified modern day Bruins fan. I don't think I fall into that category. Have been a fan since the 1960s.

I want to keep the GM/President because I don't know of anyone who would do a better job at this point. They obviously have a plan, poor time to hand the reigns over to someone new.

Yeah things are going great. Gonna miss the playoffs, NHL team sucks, they have some of the worst long-term deals in the league, and the prospect pool sucks.

I feel like there miiiiight be someone capable of doing a better job.

No. He's estranged from his family because he spoke out against the war in Ukraine. He can't go back home either. Aside from death, losing your family is a big deal.
Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I thought you were referring to the Swayman thing. But, still, "ultimate price" usually means death. Losing your family is maybe the penultimate price.

Good for him for speaking out, especially considering the repercussions. My girlfriend is Russian

Her younger brother, who's in his 30s, was on vacation in Bali when the war broke out. He stayed there as long as he could (cuz, why not?) but eventually made his way here to Canada and applied as a refugee.
