He showed some good potential here and it was entertaining to watch at a time where entertainment was lacking.

Who knows how he would have developed...but it was never gonna be here. He may come back to the NHL one day but I doubt it will be with Vancouver.

At the end of the day, he didn't want to be here.

Im having a horrible flashback to chubarov right now. Note to self... Dont get attached to russian player ever again.

Koltsov....chubarov....now tryamkin. All three couldve had long careers as canucks but passed it up to play back in Russia.

Why do we have such bad luck with Russian players?? Is it the media spotlight?

Russians need a certain atmosphere in place in order for them to be truly comfortable here.

Do you think Kuznetsov makes the jump without Ovechkin there?

It's not just the Canucks. Most Russian depth players would rather play in the KHL than North America.

Good Riddance.

Never want a player that doesn't want to be here.

That said, his departure , last years drop in draft , this years drop in draft all combined and we are a decade away from even making the playoffs. Gonna be a long terrible ride. Hopefully I have 1 more cup run in my lifetime.

Well its unfortunate. If I was his agent id be advising him to take English lessons and stick it out in North America. I'm not sure what he's being paid in Russia but it can't be close to what he could make in a few years here. Whatever makes him happy I guess.

I'm not sure what chubarov made in total earnings when he went to the khl but I have a feeling he wouldve made more money as a career 3rd liner in the nhl.

Well it definitely makes it easier when you have a Russian super star or a bunch of countrymen on in the team. I mean... if we drafted svechnikov next year I wonder if tryamkin would all of a sudden want to come back?

Its annoying because it feels like Tampa and Washington have a clear advantage when it comes to drafting Russians and attracting Russian free agents. Other organizations have to worry about a potential flight risk at the draft table. Talented Russian players fall into those teams laps and the rich get richer.

hmmm...where are all those that said Gillis was a ****** for being wary of drafting them (and this was during the time the price of a barrel of oil was significantly higher than it is now).

It's definitely a factor for the majority of nhl teams. You really have to do your homework on these players and understand what drives them or is important to them. Unfortunately most teams don't have a lot of access to these players before the draft to really understand their desire to play in the nhl. It's hard to really invest a lot in a player if you don't feel you'll get back 100% in your investment.

The wild have one of the top prospects in hockey with kaprizov but it looks like he might just stay in Russia for who knows how long. That has to be extremely frustrating for an organization. Even teams that have success bringing in Russian players have a few headaches. Tampa is still trying to bring gusev over but it seems like it might never happen.

True enough.

Look at the case of Larionov & Krutov. One guy was "worldy" - used to the cultures outside the ones he grew up. The other, couldn't really handle all the "new freedom" under the new situation he was in.

I don't think it would be very hard to analyze players on a psychological level. Even just videos of them or their body language can be revealing as to what they're going to turn into.

To me, watching the body language and what people are communicating without saying anything in the organization is utterly fascinating. Nikita hates it here and hates the coaching staff. The Sedins have already mentally retired. Horvat is projecting that he's confused and looks like he's overwhelmed, Linden looks defeated, Benning looks completely mentally lost, everyone is on a different page. Green is the only one projecting any sort of positives or confidence. It'll be interesting to see what he looks like at last public appearance before being fired in two to three years.

We are on the Titanic boys and girls.

Tryamkin is a loser. Could care less if he comes back or not

Yeah, if he doesn't have enough balls to stick it out then, 'no big loss'. I highly doubt he reaches anything close to the player he could have been competing in the NHL. He'll fade into obscurity on a mediocre KHL team.

So as reality is hitting everyone in the face. I guess it's good the Canucks still have Gudbranson. The hope that he can find some chemistry with Sbisa next year so Juolevi can remain in the minors for one more year.

Sucks about Tryamkin, feel the Canucks are definitely to blame for his departure. They clearly wanted him to play a way he didn't want to. But with all honesty I think the fans would be on his case pretty quick if he played the way he wanted to play.

Not so sure it's the Canucks... he was going back to Russia, that's were his friends, family, girlfriend all are. I don't think he cared for North America, Russians bolting back home isn't uncommon and why their so risky.

Lol....trying to think what it would be like if the shoe was on the other foot, and some highly-touted Canadian kid had just spent a terrible year playing in the KHL for a bad team....lousy coaching, called out of 'not being in shape', and benched while inferior d-men in the Sbisa mold got all the ice time.

And supposing in the off-season, some NHL team came calling offering the same or even better money to come back home and play....would be a 'no-brainer' right?
