Hiding under WTG's bed...
This is remarkably similar to Larsen leaving the Oilers because they were a mess, though Tryamkin is a much superior player. I seem to recall many talking about how they understood a guy wanting to get out of that situation. I view this in a similar way and I think if he does come back from the KHL it will be a similar manner...the canucks will be trading his rights to someone else.

I can't but think the price of oil had at least something to do with that (Larsen returning to at least make another attempt at the NHL). A much inferior player I'm assuming there's a greater abundance of (supply) has less options.

reading that interview, i'd say that whatever else is going on, there is a dose of miscommunication, a dose of paranoia and a dose of negativity on the player's part, all playing into the mix. one thing that is hard to quantify is the clash of cultures in terms of the kind of "militaristic" upbeat outlook that pro athletes in north america adopt because it is infused in them from the time they are kids. tryamkin obviously doesn't speak in pro-sport 101 platitudes and seems to express levels of self doubt, uncertainty and distrust that no pro athlete in north america would express because they understand the expectations and the need to be relentlessly positive and optimistic.

so maybe he thinks it's all a little hokey and too much. and by returning home he gets a great shot at the olympics is the nhl guys don't come, he spends a year in the familiar, gets paid well, and maximizes his bargaining power to come back.

lost in all this is the canucks say they gave him a qualifying offer that was competitive for an rfa in his shoes. but he's not a normal rfa. he has options that make him a kind of ufa-hybrid.

Im not going to sift through 34 pages, but has anyone brought up Tryamkin for Nuchushkin?
I know it would suck to lose Trammer, but Nuke does has some offensive upside. Both guys bolted for the KHL, would it be easier to get Nuchushkin over here?

From what I can gather, reading the Dallas board, the Stars are on the horns of a dilemma with Nichushkin...apparently he needs to be either protected or exposed in the upcoming expansion draft, unless they make some sort of side-deal with Vegas.

Would probably be better to wait that out to see what happens.

I feel for the Dallas fans, having your 10th overall just walk like that......Like Tryamkin,Nichushkin was plucked straight out of Russia..If a kid had a season playing in junior or college before getting drafted,I'd say he was a safe bet...If you're drafting a Russian from Russia direct, its definitely 'drafter beware'...IMO

I guess we will never know what the hutton-tryamkin pair could have became.

Possibly my fav D pair Ive ever seen play for the canucks. Short lived.

I think he will be back, this city, NHL facilities, and money is much more attractive than his current team. I think once he gets over being homesick (he's still only 22 years old), his wife has their kid, then he will come back.

Just looked to see if there was anything else about his contract. I saw Canucks Army saying that it was only a one year contract. I can't see anything about term elsewhere.

Anyone heard anything?

If it is one year, that would really improve my mood about this.

I agree, and if he doesn't, then we likely couldn't have stopped him from leaving regardless. Sad he's gone but can't control his sweet sweet heart.

Probably isn't the worst thing if he plays a year or two in the KHL....Canucks won't likely be competing for anything anyway, and some of the younger guys they have in the queue like Juolevi, Brisebois and maybe McEneny will arrive a bit earlier as a result.

This. Another 29th place finish has to be hella depressing not to mention this miserable rain/snow/grey fest since late september 2016 :shakehead

What does "not even close" mean?

Because I would use "not even close" to describe Gudbranson.

ok? what does he have to do with anything, hes a 6th and noone brought him up

He's absolutely a #4. Come on now.

hes not a #4 on a playoff contending team and he most def isnt rock solid

the guy is getting overrated because of his potential but the player he is right now is not a rock solid #4

No need to get snarky...

It's called comparables.

Different people have different definitions of what "not even close" means.

Lol, are there people that actually think he's going to make the Olympic team. Talk about disallusioned and out of touch with the game.

I'm not saying he will but I don't doubt that's part of his motivation. You do realize NHL players aren't going and the Russian D hasn't exactly been stellar lately, don't you? Again, I'm not saying he will, I'm commenting on how this place would react if he did. Nice spin.

It has been reported that he signed a 3 year deal with Avtomobilist.

Kind of discouraging...but he does has the freedom to play wherever he wants to....from a Westerners perspective,It's a huge step back ..IMO (not his)...Best of luck Nikita..

Are there generally NHL out clauses in KHL contracts for guys like Tryamkin?
