oh and just blindly blaming management is the truth? Explain the fact that if he hated Vancouver so much why didn't he just request a trade? If he wanted to play in the NHL, he would have stayed but play on another team.

I'm sure Tryammer could have tried harder to stay too. I don't think anyone on here is trying to suggest that his patriotic or family considerations aren't a factor. Plenty of blame on both sides but considering where the organization is, they can't afford to lose players like this who are young, popular, and promising.

Besides, lots of players are going to be on the fence about your team. UFA/RFA, etc. Personally I want to know that my management group has the chops to bring players on the fence into our fold. This is just another example of them screwing up.

Real issue is - why was he pissed off in the first place? Would a competent management team have been able to mitigate some of his perception of the team?

If he didn't want to play in the NHL, why did he come over in the first place? Many Russians don't try.

He came over to the NHL because Benning convinced him to come in the NHL and gave him a sweet deal. He had an active out clause if he decided to go back to Russia and was only obligated to one full season to the Canucks. He has already hit restricted free agency and was about to get a huge raise with only one season played. (I am not going to consider 11 games in the season prior to last year)

Well, that pretty much guarantees the Canucks will not be drafting any Russians any time soon, unless they're already imports in the CHL or are Andrei Svechnikov-good.

or pavel bure good...but lets be realistic a player like bure hasnt even happened yet, he was truly multi-generational talent.

What the hell this is depressing news. Didnt hear about this what the hell??? Whose next Goldy? Zhukanov??? No thanks to more Russians keep them over there. Putinbots

Yes, those were my thoughts exactly....how long before Goldy bolts for the KHL?...maybe that's the reason the Sharks parted with him in the first place?....Jimbo screwed in the trade market again?

Big difference in Goldy and Tryamkin..Goldy played junior in Canada, speaks the language and understands the game.and wants to play in the NHL...Its a lot different than when you're dealing with a Russian player direct.

As much as you want to blame management (and I understand why)...Tryamkin just wants to go home..simple as that..Doesnt give two hoots about the money or prestige of being ab NHL player.

Very fair point. This totally sucks, and I hate mgmt, but I'm not ready to rail on them for this. Things weren't handled well (seemingly), but any strain could easily have been mended if Tree wanted to stay. Hopefully we see him in a yr or two.

Did you really listen to the rest of Jimbo's interview?.....appears obvious now that Juolevi is going to be force-fed into the NHL next season ready-or-not, and that he's going to blow his brains out re-signing Gudbranson...and seems convinced that the pizza-man Sbisa will be back next year, his contract being unpalatable even to Vegas.

It's called the 'Tryamkin ripple effect'....ugly times ahead on the blueline.:help:

Or Joulevi is ready for the NHL next season, Sbisa gets picked by Vegas, and Gudbranson gets a fair "prove yourself" contract next year.

See I can also just say things that I want to happen next year, saying it's what's "obvious".

Yeah Im not so much wanting to blame Benning for this. (I mean Im sure hes a bit of a jackass here). But I think this is as simple as the Russian factor. Im sick of this happening and too bad it happens with Tryamkin but its a lesson learned hopefully Benning and co figure this out and stop drafting or trading for Russians

I have not heard any interview no, just not positive this was a major **** up vs an unfortunate situation. If Gud gets a big extension, yes, I'll hate it, and I get that Tram leaving makes it more likely, but idk if that's going to happen. All I know is there were very few reasons to watch games, and now there's one less.

Could losing Tryamkin actually cause the team to look at extending Sbisa this summer? Scary.

Probably. 4 years $16 million (Thats $4 million per year for 4 years)
Then Gubrandson 5 years $25 million ($5 million a year for 5 years)

Why? Cause Benning

If Sbisa gets claimed you can pencil in Biega into the top 6, which might be better all things considered. Unless we're going a full season with him in "hound" mode and he's playing 4th line minutes.

There is actually nothing wrong with that defence. I am excited to see Hutton, Stecher, and Juolevi develop. Tanev is still a top defensive defenceman on any team. We still haven't seen what Gudbranson is capable of in a full season.

The only thing that strains the Canucks is they no longer have the flexibility to trade a defenceman this year for a top 6 forward.

It all depends on how Juolevi develops and if he can have the same impact that Tryamkin did, then I can see them trading Edler or Hutton for forward help.

If you don't think him being a flight risk hurt his value at all, you are greatly misinformed.

If you didn't think he was a flight risk before today, you are the one that was misinformed. This is disappointing news, but it wasn't completely out of left field considering he had that clause in his contract that he didn't have to go to the AHL, and he could go back to Russia instead.

You cant deny that his value has bombed since bolting back to the KHL though

I don't think his ability to play hockey has changed, and I don't think his value as an asset has completely diminished. Hell, Mark Giordano bolted to the KHL earlier in his career and came back to be a great NHL player.

Err, what's the cut off for this kind of reasoning? If he stunk for 60 games instead of 30 do we get this same argument? He's been around for a while now. I have a hard time thinking he would've somehow gone from a liability to a contributor if he'd played out the season.

I could be wrong but I think Giordano only bolted because the Flames were playing hardball in the contract negotiations. Doesn't seem to be the case here with Tryamkin.
