Player Discussion: Nikita Kucherov - Part 3

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

4 games less than Mackinnon and 2 less points. If he was Canadian he would be talked about 24/7 but he is Russian so we must discriminate against all rusians because of the war they didnt choose.

Kucherov is the best player in the league not named McDavid. It's been that way for years but the Canadian outlets won't budge on that.

I dunno. I catch a fair number of TSN/SN broadcasts and they all gush about 86’s skills.
I don't disagree but as the best player not named McDoodle? Doubt it. 2022 was the prime example. Avs were ushered in and talked about as a new dynasty before they even beat us lol. It was and has been all MacKinnon before Kucherov.

Funny enough, assuming he keeps the lead this season - Kucherov will have outpaced McDavid in 3 of their last 6 healthy seasons.
Yes but was he healthy or was he "healthy." Because Edmonton fans want you to believe he's playing with broken legs and doing it while Kuch is 100%. They always suspect he's injured... maybe he's just not scoring more than the #1 guy? Lol.

They do, but when it comes time to vote on things, it's basically lip service. I wouldn't go so far as to call Kucherov generational, because I think that's only been true for like 15 players ever, but he's just a hair below.

He's been consistently #2 in the league. But every time there's been the least bit of argument for MacKinnon, or anyone else, Kuch starts dropping in the rankings. But then the next year comes and he's right there again.

It'll probably take until sometime in the '26-'27 season (provided reasonable health) for Kuch to pass Stammer's regular season points total (974 for Kucherov vs. 1137 for Stamkos) but the overall points total when combining regular season and playoffs is within reach for next season. Kucherov's only 97 points behind Stamkos now with still 11 games to play + postseason this year, so he'll easily be in striking range of that for next season.

MacK has only 3 more points but in 5 more games than Kuch. Drai is now 4 points behind Kuch (but has like 100 more goals).

It’s gonna be interesting where the Art Ross and Hart will land.
