It is surprising with the year he’s having to see Kuch at only +2
Vasi missed two months and hasn't been himself since being back, Sergachev and Cernak have missed some significant time. Tampa's been a defensive mess this year and hasn't been good at all at 5-on-5. Tampa is 6th worst in goals allowed.
Look at it this way, Kuch's two line mates are are -14 (Point) and -22 (Stamkos). The fact that Kuch is a + despite all that is the surprising thing.

McDavid fan girls are out of control in this thread. By the way Messier said Kucherov is the closest player he’s seen to Gretzky.

Peter Forsberg once said Simon Gagne was the purest shooter he had ever played with.

Well let me just quote the late-great Colonel Sanders, who said...'I'm too drunk to taste this chicken.'

Kuch could have potted a few more last night but Bob was on his A game.

While we're discussing plus minus, I wonder why Rantanen is -1 while MacKinnon is +14. Don't they play mainly on the same line? Neither has any short handed points.

FL always getting carried by their goalies. Such a lucky a team.

Anyway, Kuch is still MVP for me. Without him Tampa wouldn’t be in a playoff position.

Without McDavid being healthy and playing at Superman levels the past few months Edmonton would be fighting San Jose and Chicago for the last in the league. Which we seen first hand what Edmonton looked like with McDavid struggling early in the season, even if he was only struggling in the sense of his own personal play.

Closest Mcdavid has got to a Stanley cup was his face being photoshopped over Gretzky’s face.
It's almost as if hockey is a team sport and one player can't do it all alone.

It's funny how much the mains crucifies the Oilers then acts shocked when they're not very good.

Even Gretzky never led the Kings to a Cup.

TB would definitely be in the running for bottom 5. The only other guy playing above par is Hagel.

Sergachev and Cernak have fought injuries and been... not good... when healthy.

Dont get me wrong. We knew it would be bad because we lost so much talent. But with so many guys playing WAY below their usual level (...Vasy), it really has been the Tampa Bay Kucherov.

Gretzky took them to the Finals and he didn't have another generational talent on his team either.

If Mcdavid does take the Ross + Hart + Lindsay this year

1 of Lemieux, Howe, Orr are kicked out the top 4 best players.

Lemieux --> No, hes a better Mcdavid. Insanely talented and more dominant. His career would be untouchable for Mcdavid if he had been healthy

Orr --> Hard to say, extreme dominance but very short career. He is the universal GOAT D though

Howe --> Absurd longevity, but Mcdavid would beat him for absolute peak + Prime at this point. Mcdavid moves past Howe in terms of needing to dominate. At this pt, Mcdavid would need 1 cup + another 4-5 years of compiling and being a top5ish player to be past Howe all time

Mcdavid is just that good. Crosby wasnt this good, OV not close, Bedard wont be close.

He shattered expectations multiple times in his career.
Maybe in your world but not in the real one.

McDavid is trending that way but he still has a ways to go.

I have them as

Gretzky
Howe/Orr

Then Mario who is the weakest link of the Big 4 but people get all eyes glazed over due to the video game numbers and don't contextualize his overall game and impact.

Crosby is probably solid at #5 right now and then there is a group that McDavid is closing in on.

Kucherov is having a career year, he's going to have to continue that for the rest of the season....which won't be easy. As others have said, McDavid is 13 pts back with 5 in hand......just so happens he has 13 pts in his last 5 games.

It will be close.
Now it's 11 points 5 games in hand.

People bring this up forget that Gretzky was the goals, assists and points leader at age 32 when his Kings lost in the SC finals to Patrick "won like 10 games in OT that playoffs " Roy.

It's like when people bring up McDavid hasn't won anything like his back to back playoffs don't mean anything.

I was joking
Fair enough as it's hard to tell around here sometimes with the really weird takes.
