I think Q Hughes is right there in the conversation. At this early stage its either Kucherov or Hughes. Nikita is playing out of his mind rn though. So is Hughes but yeah. Nice little race going on.

It's going to take at least 120 points to win the Art Ross imo. As great as he has been there's zero chance Hughes hits that as a d-man. That is Bobby Orr territory.

Hughes won't score enough goals to win it. You can only get so many assists, especially if the threshold to win the Art Ross these days is 120+ points. If he scored 30 goals - which is extremely unlikely - he'd still need to bag 90+ assists.

We can dream! But we all know McDavid will win it this year. He's heating up.

I think if Hughes hit's 100 points that's an excellent season. There's almost no chance he hangs around in the Art Ross race though. I also don't think Kucherov will continue at a 1.75ppg pace, but if he does it will be a fun race.

Thanks for the hard hitting journalism.

Also, this goes to show how little having an Art Ross Trophy winner on your roster helps the team actually win.
I think he is in the middle of a 7 year run this year would be 8

If you google art ross you can see in photo form

if mcdavid is done slumping, there is no reason he can't play another 62 games at last years PPG pace which would put him around 141 points

no one is winning the art ross this year unless he misses around 7 - 10 games then it might be up for grabs

He’s been on fire since the beginning of the season topping it off with a 6 point performance today.

35 points in 20 games (143 point pace), 4 more than Hughes. 15 more than McDavid
I wouldn’t count Draisaitl and McDavid out yet if McDavid is showing he’s feeling healthier.

The two can put up serious numbers real fast

Mcdavids not scoring 110 never mind 120
He’s pacing for like 113 already after just coming out of the worst play of his career…

I'd like to see him win another art ross tbh, he's one of my favorite players in the league. But he's gonna have his work cut out for him with the way McDavid's been roaring back recently
