Player Discussion Nick Suzuki Game Winning Goals Edition

We talk alot about Demidov potentially being our first 100pt player since god knows how long.

If Suzuki can keep the same pace as his last 20 games (1.21 PT/G) he would hit 89pts this year.

Is it fair to say if the team gets a passable 2C, a full season of Hutson and Laine on PP1 and Demidov... we could be looking at Nick hitting 100 points first?

London boys supporting London boys. He's not wrong though, Suzuki's game is all about quality. He does everything extremely well. I think the only reason he's overlooked is because he plays a "slow" game. He does pretty much everything else at an elite level.
Suzuki puts winning before stat padding. Not saying he's on Datsyuks level but it's the same approach. PD could've scored way more but put the team first. Suzuki is very similar. 100pts isn't out of the question on his career

With Hutson in the lineup, Dvorak might get to 100 points.

Nick has a good shot at 90 this year. It’s the second year in a row he’s gone postal in the last 20 games. Next year he’ll have to get off to a better start to get there. Not easy but it’s achievable. Similar to Caufield getting 50 goals. Hard but not impossible.

Nick won't get his due until we start making the playoffs or he plays in an international tournament. A lot of these guys with these opinions watch highlights or statwatch and that's it.

People who watch him play know how good he is. Craig Button, like him or not, watches a lot of Habs and gushes about him all the time.

That's the weird part though, he's not MacKinnon but the dude produces some nice highlights on top of the production so no excuses

Do we really have to constantly inject other players names into this discussion to explain Suzuki's production?
Breaking news Suzuki is the only elite center in the league benefitting from having some talent on his wings.
He's also the only elite center who can rely on an Offensive minded Dman.

Nick Suzuki is a stand alone solution who has played and continues to play very good hockey with everyone period end of story.
He was always going to be a PPG player and it was evident even from his rookie season.
I called it myself in his second year we only have to surround him properly.
We are still a 2C away from doing that.

The “experts” are here to give us a dose of reality

Whoever that other center ends up being, I hope it's of a certain profile. A bigger center who can play top 6 with reach who is good at making their own real estate in tight games.... basically what they were hoping from dach.

It would really diversify the Habs at the position and make them a matchup nightmare.

The other aspect of nick that can't be taken for granted is that he plays every damn game.... and it's not like he's floating. He plays hard minutes and he seems to have knack on how to be efficient without making himself vulnerable very often.

Obviously, luck plays a big part in your health, but he's also doing something right too.

They are a bunch of morons. Want to know about a player talk to those who play against him.

Amazing season from the captain.

He is a #1 elite center for sure.

Just need to add a great top 6 C and Suzuki will be more productive.
At the very very least he’s BORDERING on elite.

How good do you have to be to be this young and play this good while being a captain for the Habs which is the most thankless job in sports?

He’s centering one of the best lines in the league and leading one of the most promising young teams in the league. Best Hab skater of the last 25 years easily. I’d take him over Price honestly not just out positional bias but there’s been far less hiccups with him than Price.

What do you mean at the very least? Hes well into the top 15 and hes been flirting with the 5th spot for like three months now. Hes 4th in scoring in the NHL in the last 15 games.

Back to back 77 pt seasons for the Capt

To finally call someone PPG again in over 15 years is just... cruel lol
Good for you O well-endowed one!

Demidov probably can take him to the 90 threshold too..

If the PP takes off with Demidov, Suzuki will come close to 100 points playing the entire 2 minutes on the PP.

PP1:

Laine - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Demidov - Hutson

PP2:

Caufield - Suzuki - Heineman
2C - Reinbacher

Suzuki is obviously going to be the most fluid player on the PP but if he can play the bumper well, the habs PP will be absolutely cooking
