"You just can't fall in love (with a player)" should be the baseline for every question the media asks these assholes until they resign or are fired.

I'm starting to think Cutter Gauthier was onto something...
Cutter realized that he was walking into perpetual mediocrity. Starting to respect him more and more for realizing he didn't want any part of a shit show run by doorknobs.

Could they even trade him while on IR? Like would a team take that contract knowing he's hurt and we are saying it could be weeks?
If you can trade guys who will definitely never play again, you surely can do that.

I look forward to Philadelphia's Best Beat Writer™ Charlie O'Connor asking these types of hard questions. Definitely not expecting any loaded questions that provide the organization with a cop-put answer.

Anything around $3.5M is perfectly fine for Seeler.

As a % of the cap, he'll be cheaper than Braun and Gudas, who were good 3rd-pairing D. He'll be 31 next season. He's not old and falling apart.
Besides being not shocked in anyway that you're defending this, why does a team that's supposed to be rebuilding need to sign a 5/6 defenseman to a 3+ million/year contract for at least 3 years?

Sign a 5/6 defenseman to a 3+ million/year for at least 3 years who will be 31 years old when this new contract begins.

Re. Build.

I give O'Connor a hard time but the dude's a genius. Five more years of lobbing softballs their way and acting as their PR firm? He will be the runaway frontrunner for next POHO

Because he's good in his role, and you still need that role?

Rebuilding doesn't mean you eschew all 30+ yr olds.

2.3 even 2.8 i could live with but it's a reward deal for a guy playing the right way. With guys like attard and ginning slow cooking in the minors ithink carrot deals like this have to be done in order to show them what's there if they play their dues but it's a clear overpayment
I don't think it's at all possible to argue seeler is worth a second round pick and not four million.
Ironically, I am of the belief that Seeler's worth at the TDL is increased, say by 1 draft round, by his league-minimum salary/cap hit. Cap-strapped contenders can easily fit Seeler as depth or better and may still have room for a bigger deal.

Fair point. My post was based on a 2nd rounder coming back but if then market isn’t there than there are worst things than this.
I think we are all starting to settle given it looks like Briere will do nothing (smart that is). I do not care what the return is. There is no universe where Seeler, Walker or Laughton should be on this team given it's timeline.....

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy so, back when I was saying I don't think they'll be moving Seeler or Laughton or much of anyone dating way back to the summer because there's no reason to believe this group of all the same people will be any different, I had people yelling at me quite bitterly for being "too negative." It turns out I was not at all being "too negative." I was being accurate and pointing out reality. Telling the truth instead of engaging in baseless delusion is a positive behavior, you know.

This team is always obsessed with building backwards. It's their Way.

Would all those people like to do the extremely positive thing and acknowledge they were wrong to be mean to me? To me, the paragon of positive attachment to The Way Things Are? Me, a being of electrified meat? I am merely the messenger, and I'm quite handsome; my grandmothers always told me so. And yet several of you treated me like I deserve to be pureed and funneled into an ape's butt. Turns out I and others weren't just complaining because it's all we do; the unchanged management group has simply not changed, as was very very very very very easily predicted. I said it when he was promoted: if Briere were any different from the Cronyarchy in his approach, he would not have the job. True positive change doesn't occur until every single person who has ever met Clarke is fired, and they go out of their way to hire a bunch of people who are the exact opposite of what we have now.

Yeah - Cutter was on to something so he forced his way to ANAHEIM of all places. Granted they have a cup this century.

Spending my winters as a millionaire in Southern California sounds great.
It worked out nicely for Cartsey and Richie too.

On a separate note, Is the flyers Reddit just super young?

They are always super homerish about everything the organization does.

3.3/yr for a 6th/7th shot blocking intangibles 30 year old D.

New era of orange.
If he broke his foot on the last blocked shot, then it will never be as strong as the "original" so much of that 3.3 has the potential of being earned on the IR

Yeah, a future with more upside, a team with a better development track record, a team that doesn't have the most hated coach in the league, without a fanbase that routinely turns on its top players regardless of their play, and California's weather. What a moron.
