I bet they would
Eller went for a 2nd when he wasn't even playing as well as he has for the Pens vs the Caps the year he was moved to the Avs. A very good 3c that is a fantastic penalty killer that is reliable in his role could definitely fetch that.

He quite literally did a few years ago and like I said, he's better now than he was when he did fetch a 2nd for the Caps.

Imagine saying a bloke that went for a 2nd when he wasn't as good as he is right now, couldn't go for a 2nd to a contender again, lol.

Where did I say he couldn't get a 2nd?

I challenge you to show me where I said he couldn't get a 2nd.

You'll fail because I never said that.

I wouldn't pay it.

I'd rather pay more for a Brock Nelson or Yanni Groude

But chances are he could get it.

You understand what that insinuates, right? That implies we wish we could get a 2nd for him in this instance. Maybe choose your words better next time rather than flipping out that your comment didn't mean that, when a comment like that, is used exactly like that when uttered.

Who is flipping out? I corrected you because you were wrong.

It's OK that you were wrong but you were wrong

As a sens fan I'd offer up something.

3rd plus a prospect?

Edit: 3rd + Angus Crookshank + Nick Cousins to balance the cap. Cousins is still effective and isn't a dump, FYI.

Not going anywhere with Patches going down last night. That does not look like an injury that he is coming back from anytime soon. As for him being offersheeted in the summer and the Leafs "not affording him" for 1.6 million is laughable. They will have 30 million in cap space with 3 ELC contracts on prospects that will be pushing into the line up.

So in this scenario they're letting their second/third best player walk for nothing, that sounds like a much better situation to be in

Feels like a classic change of scenery type move that needs to happen, I would not be surprised to see him go elsewhere and do better at all but it isn't working in Toronto.

Where do you think the 30 million in cap space comes from
IF you are talking about Marner he is not going to cost 30 million. he costs around 12 million. That puts the Leafs at 8 forwards (Knies is 9 for say 5 million) That leaves around 13 million left. They will have 9 forwards signed, 6 defenceman signed and 2 goalies. After that put aside 2.7 million for ELC's that leaves them around 10 million to spend on a 7th D, 3C and one more forward. That is without any trades we konw are going to happen.

Roster crunch is coming when Jarnkrok returns and at this point he's likely to get offersheeted at a number the Leafs will neither match or receive compensation for. They should use him in a package to get a 3C, that's their biggest glaring hole
Nobody offersheeted him when he was coming off a 20 goal paced season, why would they do it now assuming he continues to struggle?

An offer sheet that costs a team zero compensation? It's a free young player with 20 goal upside. I think a team could offer him like 1x1.6 and Toronto won't be able to comfortably match that

Why would anybody pay Nick Robertson $1.6 million? That's madness. Every team already has a guy like him and they're not paying $1.6 million for him.

Not a fan of Robertson, but I care about Jarnkrok even less. I’d rather just ship Jarnkrok out, he is so vanilla plus he totally disappears in the playoffs. Useless.
