Any ideas on why it is that the bigger the stakes, the worse we play?
Because our stars are choking dogs and should be traded asap.

The deal seems fine and I think Dubas does a good job finding spare parts. The problem is that spare parts is all we can afford because he's stubbornly committed to keeping our top heavy salary cap structure intact. JMHO.
Well, ok. Maybe not ASAP. Maybe they need another 5 post seasons to finally, consistently play to their standards and abilities, never mind raise the bar by finding another gear when hockey matters.Because our stars are choking dogs and should be traded asap.

But is there a timeline at all as to how little my this choking is acceptable, until it does become ASAP?
How many more elimination games, and now vs vastly inferior teams to boot, do we get the sort of offensive production that even a prime Hasek wouldn’t win with out of these two spineless pretenders before it becomes ASAP?

I don't disagree with you. I think he got rinsed on the Marner contract. To the point I genuinely begrudge Marner. He's a TO boy and he left NOTHING on the table. I don't respect Mitch and I would not shed a single tear if he was traded. AM got the big bucks, but he is the main man and the 1C. They get paid and understandable so.
I have zero respect for Mitch Marner and his negotiation. Come the end of his career, he'll be a rich man, but he won't have the success that he should have had and that will be no-one's fault but his own.
You don't have a good answer so you're spewing nonsense instead. Not the most intelligent look but if that's all you got, then that's all you got.
Personally I can't wait to go back to the no-star leafs I watched for the previous 30yrs.
Your wait may be over by next year at this time ... to an extent.
If they go down the drain again something major has to happen, they've been given enough rope ...

Yeah I think many people feel the same, totally understandable. Maybe he turns it around, we have some playoff success and he signs his next deal at a discount, we win a cup and he's a hero, anything's possible I guess. For now though, it sure does seem to be trending the way you describe, not a good situation. I've been on the trade Marner train for some time now, not just because of what you said but also because of his poor play in the playoffs and because it's hard to see us winning the cup with 3 forwards taking up so much cap room in this flat cap situation we find ourselves in. We're in a tough division too so it's not hard to see us losing again in the 1st round and then there's a real danger of our stars not wanting to stay here and the rats just might start fleeing the ship so to speak.

What's wrong with that answer?
He is probably one of the reasons I find the team somewhat unlikeable.
I don't think coaching is helping any.
Watching them on the PP, taking dumb, idiotic chances with the puck going the other way over and over again, without any sort of corrective action being seen.
Kind of whatever you want to do pretty-boy.
So you were being serious and you think our stars are "choking dogs"?
76, 80 (my favourite) and 83. The NFL defines seasons based on when the bulk of the season is played, not the date of the Super Bowl.Plunkett won in 1981 and 1984 as the QB for the Raiders. Raiders won their other one in '77.
This can't be stressed enough. I don't want to see crap like last year when Thornton was deemed worthy of being on the first line before the first practice session. He was a 41 year-old cheap free agent, not Tavares.I'm not sold on Ritchie making the first line but if he earns it he earns it.
The Leafs lost because they 'lack toughness' and 'their D sucks'.We've definitely lost the last two playoffs because those guys couldn't score.
How do you explain it?

I'm going to say that I think we can win with the core making that money. I think kase is the lynch pin to this coming season. If healthy our top 6 will be big and nasty, and I think we all know Marner player very well when Martin was here watching over him, so if it's Ritchie doing that even better. You don't have a good answer so you're spewing nonsense instead. "Name 2 lies that keep getting repeated ad nausieum by our dimmest fans for $1000, Alex"
Neither of those were reasons why they lost - they lost because they forgot how to score. Their playoff GAA was under 2.00.Lemme guess, you are one of our smartest fans......
Answering a question with a question - classic deflection.
Come on now, you're the one who's always talking about how good the team is, how do you explain the fact that as the stakes rise, we play worse and worse?

Posters complained we weren't tough and no pushback, now we have that and I think it will allow the big 4, well really 2 as Willie performed well and JT was taken out, to show their moxie.
Another point to the anti Dubas posts, not you as I don't even know if you've made any, if not for covid freezing the cap for 2 years we would not be so worried about the cap hits of the 3. So unless Dubas knew covid was going to shut down the world I don't think it's fair to direct so much vitriol towards him for those contracts.
Thanks for letting me rant Gary

I answered your question with an answer. You objected.
But don't think we don't notice that you always make sure you are in the position to demand answers to your questions, while refusing to answer anyone else's.
I didn't object to anything, I just asked if you were serious when you said that our stars are "choking dogs" and you deflected.
So, are you serious when you say that our stars are "choking dogs"?
Which metric measures playoff heart/60?The Leafs lost because their big guns choked.
