Some people like to jump to conclusions quickly……any excuse to be negative. And some like to root for our team and try to understand the circumstances for a struggling player. I had doubts too but I really hope he succeeds and we give him the chance to do so.
jump to conclusions too quickly ? Ritchie is in his mid 20's , has played well over 300 games and has been discarded by his 2 previous teams so i have no idea why you believe he'll be a different player with us ?

this isn't a Bunting type situation where a player was a lower rd pick and has never gotten a chance to prove himself so it's fully reasonable to cut him some slack if he had a slow start

but hey don't let me spoil you being all positive and shit but i will give you a spoiler alert to where you'll end up , some time in the not to distant future you'll be posting something like

"lol people still harping about a scrap heap signing that busted ? never understand what people expect from guys brought in to just be placeholders until -insert mystery prospect name- is ready to play , f***ing people will complain about anything''

Hopeful - hoping my team and its players do well
Delusional - trying to explain that constant negativity is draining to a negative Nancy.

I’m glad Ritchie is off the top lines until he proves he’s a better fit. I hope he figures it out.
facts are neither negative or positive and Ritchie has played like crap which is a fact

another fact - if the team had signed Ritchie for 1m x 1yr he'd be with the Marlies right now and no one would give a damn or spend any energy being ''hopeful'' he figures it out

Another fact. He could score in every game he plays from now on, you’ll not admit he’s good, and you’ll find something else to be super negative about.

I dont know why so many fans were infatuated with the idea of Ritchie before the signing.

Im convinced this fanbase doesnt watch any other team and will just look at players body size when making their shopping list.

He didnt suddenly become terrible, this is what Nick Ritchie is. An often disinterested, no real elite talent, not overly physical big body who will have sudden bursts of inspire play for a short time.

And the sun could blow up tomorrow. Stupid theoreticals.

Like someone else mentioned in this thread, if he was signed to a 1M deal; he'd be in the AHL right now and no one would bat an eye.

‘Stupid theoreticals’. Then you post a hypothetical situation lol. Thanks for your input!

It won't be long before it all catches up to him, the team fails miserably again, and he's finally turfed.

Which new potential GM's do you see taking over for him and and you "supporting" around the clock?

Just curious..

I'm hoping for a Gorton or Lombardi/Futa combo personally.

Interested to hear what you think..
Well, I have not really concidered who will come after Dubas. It may be years down the road before Dubas leaves Toronto; it may be tomorrow. Though definitely I am going to support any new GM as I support the Leafs. I am not looking forward to the complaining of any Lombardi- Futa combo though.

Lol, OK. With a little hope you may get what you want. Please tell us more of what it takes to be a fan.
it really doesn't take too much , just support the crest on the front , not who's the GM and hope weaker players get replaced by better ones as the team builds towards a cup

Around $1.5M of dead cap if he doesn't get claimed and goes to the Marlies
The good news is that Ritchie was signed by Dubas so we probably won't give up our 2022 first rounder to get rid of him. Dubas always pretends his moves are good.

I won't get too hard on Ritchie because I wasn't expecting much really. I think he will be valuable come playoff time actually, if they make it..

That is what I thought about a guy like Perry but he was making 750k. At 2.5m you gotta get something out of Ritchie during the season. I can't believe he can be this insignificant 9 games into the season.

To be fair Ritchie was a fan favorite in Boston for half the season last year. Won some award Bruins fans do every season. Actually some big names that won it even though its nothing official lol. So it's not that farfetched to think he should offer a nice stretch of productive play soon. Cycles of "let's goooo ritchie" and "fudge you Ritchie you stink". So far it's been all fudge no go so we're due for some go soon I'd imagine. Maybe he can sustain it longer this time when it happens.

^^ lmaooooo what? You're right. I thought you were making it up you don't sound serious at all. Fudge?

Nick Ritchie wins NESN's 7th Player Award for 2021 season

Bruins forward Nick Ritchie’s career year in Boston came with a deserving honor, as Ritchie was named the winner of NESN’s 7th Player Award prior to Saturday’s game with the Rangers.

Awarded annually to the Bruin who exceeded the expectations of Bruins fans during the season, Ritchie captured the honor via a fan vote on NESN.com, and touched on it following the team’s 5-4 loss to the Blueshirts.

I plan to judge Ritchie after the core 5 wake up. He's a complimentary player the captains need to give him something to do.

See Bunting and Engvalls powerplay goals. Since we're 1/10000 on the PP, Ritchie already earned his salary with those two screens :sarcasm:

This guy is a waste of a Roster spot.

No.1 LW was a career killer the way Matthews and Marner were playing.

I just had to remind myself 50% of you don't watch games. Makes sense now why people think Ritchie is permanently useless.

It seems that a large portion of this fanbase worships and adores every single player dubas trades for or signs regardless of their actual ability.

Im among Dubas' biggest supporters but this was an overcompensation for a lack of "grit".

Its funny you say that though, this is the move that the anti-Dubas crowd was lauding at the time.

I doubt most of you care for a Bruins fan perspective, but just in case, I’ll chime in.

The 7th player award is a joke of an award amongst every actual Bruins fan. I wouldn’t put any stock in that. And while there were a minority of Bruins fan constantly trying to cut Ritchie slack, the majority of the fan base was perpetually annoyed with his lack of contribution and that includes this fan. It didn’t matter what the alternatives were…under no circumstances did I want him signing another contract with the Bruins.

What I struggle to understand is how a player of his apparent capabilities (or lack thereof) was drafted as high as he was. What about his game jumped out at scouts? I struggle to find anything he does where he is anywhere near above average. Fighting I guess. But evaluating him as a hockey player, I just don’t get what’s there.

He is following the same trajectory in the line up as vesey last year

He is mostly invisible.

I tried to spin some positivity early on the player but to date Simmonds has played far better. So has Kase and Bunting. That should embarrass Ritchie. The only thing he seems to do well is screen on the 2nd PP.
