Good post.... the Dispatch does impact fans... Boone Jenner is good but he has no right to be CBJ Captain over Nick or Dubinski... Jenner hasn't earned anything other than press by Portzline and my friend Jeff Rimer...

The same thing happens in Buffalo, radio stations in Buffalo rule the roost.... the media.

Right on.

Can you imagine how naming 21 year old Jenner (103 career games) Captain over Foligno or Dubinsky (both ironically with 545 career reg. season NHL games) would probably go over in the locker room?

Lead balloon comes to mind.

If they don't like it, then they are not a "team first" player and they can leave.

Porty with "betting odds" -> http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com...kers/2015/05/and-the-captain-will-be-....html

I personally think it's:
1. Foligno
2. Dubinsky
3. Jenner
Then the rest.

Not that I think it's likely, but if Porty wanted to cover all his bases he would have also mentioned Murray who has essentially the same things going for him that Jenner has (young, leader on the ice, was a captain in Major Juniors) but has been sidelined with freak injuries for most of his professional career.

I'm sure the players were asked in their exit meetings

It's quite probable that it became clear to everyone who it should be when the exit interviews occurred. Players probably spoke up with their thoughts and opinions. If the players were the ones who elected to have Foligno speak at the final home game, that's a pretty telling sign. Foligno's confidence seemed to soar after the ASG. I have no qualms about Dubinsky being a captain as well. We all know how important he is to the team and how they play without him in the lineup but I think Dubinsky is the yang to Foligno's ying and the 2 of them are both great leaders in their own right.

And Boone Jenner is up front leading the charge into battle. . I really like how poised we are going into next season. I cant believe we can potentially about to add someone(again) who can step in and make a difference in Provorov, Werenski or possibly even Barzal.

I'm curious about the timing of the announcement. Seems like announcing now may mean it will be Foligno. Assuming the selection doesn't sit well with Dubi, this would give him a month before the draft to come to terms with the decision. If he can't, they can trade him at the draft. :dunno:
