For the 4th consecutive year, the IceDogs failed to take a flyer on a US based player, in a time when every elite US player is 100% accessible to OHL teams, over the next few years, regardless of where they decide to play this coming season. Take a chance on some of these high-end players, rather than wasting those late picks on players who won't make it to or past training camp.

From the OHL website: OHL Completes 2025 Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore - Ontario Hockey League

An OHL Priority Selection record total of 81 players were chosen from American-based teams, led by Detroit Little Caesars with eight selections. Chicago Mission, Shattuck-St. Mary’s School, Chicago Reapers, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, and Mount St. Charles Academy each had six players selected. An additional two players were chosen from U.S. prep schools, while two were selected from the U.S. National Development Program.

That is an average of more than four American players drafted per OHL team. But the IceDogs again failed to draft a single U.S. player. In the four drafts under DD, the IceDogs haven't drafted any American players.

The IceDogs 4th round pick Michael Tang doesn't seem to have any interest in the OHL. He just signed a tender yesterday to play for the Madison Capitols of the USHL (Michael Tang Signs Tender with Madison Capitols)

The Madison Capitols have signed Michael Tang to a United States Hockey League (USHL) tender agreement for the 2025-26 season.

Tang, a dual citizen of U.S. and Canada, played for the Toronto Titans AAA during the 2024-25 season, finishing second in team scoring with 52 goals and 76 assists in 74 games playing 16U.....

“I am beyond excited to join the Capitols, and I look forward to being a part of this organization,” said Tang. “I think the people in this organization are truly special. The coaches are great, and I’ve heard great things about this place.”

There is a responsibility within the OHL with USA players as far as scholarships/remuneration/education which makes a USA player more costly, isn't there? Maybe that is the main reason we don't draft these players!

Yes, American players get a year of school paid for to a US college for every season played in the OHL. Ontario players get a year of school paid for to a Canadian college. The US scholarships cost more which is why I think DD won’t draft Americans.

Really you are losing a few players but the ones that you drafted should fill in nicely

Question what is the story with Frasca? Do you still hold his OHL rights?

Why besides probably not getting enough ice time did he leave or is he the same as the other Frasca and think he is a star.

I agree. The information should be on their website. But with such a small staff now, I guess they can’t update it like other teams can.
We are a second or 3rd tier team & have been since 3D bought the team. We will continue this way until 3D sells. Get over it. It is the reality of this team.

Are you saying DDD is economically responsible, frugal or cheap?

FYI. Some of those later round selections by the IceDogs were just down right embarrassing, in any draft year, but even more so in a year when taking some US flyer picks could really be impactful in a year or two.

The OHL just updated their player agreements the day before their draft, to accommodate players planning to go NCAA at some point, so the barriers have been effectively removed .

The Owen Sound Attack, knowing this, picked 5 US players.
They were there for anyone to choose.

That is one way to increase the talent pool quickly for any team .
