Niagara was not getting any of the top-rated players with his first pick to report; so he did what he had to, go the defect route with the most valuable player available.
Coach Ben: Quick to praise and quick to criticize

“I want to shout it from the mountaintops,” Boudreau said. “I don’t care about the goals and the assists, in a draft year at that moment down 5-0 to step up on home ice and do that I think is just absolutely incredible. It says so much about his character, about how much he cares and what he’s willing to do for his teammates regardless of the score. I think that will get him more notice outside of his offensive ability.” Boudreau added. “To be honest, I wish there was a whole team full of guys that cared and played like that.”

Boudreau lamented watching the same mistakes over and over. “Yeah, six of them (mistakes) to be very specific, all the exact same way,” he said. “I think everybody was guilty — (Darcy) Dewatcher, Chinner (Callum Cheynowski) and Scotty (Blair Scott) and (Matthew) Virgilio.”

I mean he is right, those 4 guys all made brutal mistakes that directly lead to breakaways. Czata on the first one too.
I think the colts will have the best playoff team.
I don’t really want to predict the eastern conference final standings because it appears that they might be as close as last season. But I did say I would pick finishes for Brampton and Niagara after the deadline.

They have us at 5 in the OHL power rankings this week.

I still think Brantford and especially Brampton can be/are better than Sudbury and Kingston
Brantford maybe. I haven’t seen them enough this season to say otherwise.
They think Flores is going to bail them out but he only human.

You have a lot of young players that are now playing in rare air. No one expected them to be where they are. At some point they start to read the newspapers and they start to think they are as good as people say.
Sounds like the defence are not going to have an easy week in practice this week

The Coach is on top of it and that is the first step to fix this issue. I wonder how long its been happening, I only really noticed it in the last couple weeks.

It's a tough mindset to break - believing you can outscore your defensive short-comings. With two senior players out for the weekend (or longer), I can see the team struggling to win a game. I'll go one point, but I am hoping for nothing but W's.
I’ll go with 2 points (Saturday) sounds like he’s been on top of it all season and nothings really changed at some point unfortunately they are what they are defensively

Great to see Niagara back to respectability and not in the "news' for all the wrong reasons. A coach with some upside and other executives allowed to do their jobs has paid big dividends. Your draft cupboard is certainly healthy as you have most of your picks in place moving forward it appears? Such a great fanbase you all deserve to be rewarded with a good team. Good Luck the rest of the way as you are in a tough battle with some solid teams in the conference! Maybe a Knights / Icedogs OHL final would be great to see again? Lot of good teams stand between us both however.
Ben didn’t name the third but he mentioned 3 players are injured and Levin will be gone for the World Juniors.
Although I am not a big Wray fan, now would have been a good time to have that body.

He has been playing first and second line which he just never was going to on the IceDogs. Still would be nice to have him on 3C instead of now having to slide Paris to C I assume.
